<p>We are looking for individuals who are passionate about the potential for real-world evidence (RWE) to accelerate the progress against cancer to join our Flatiron Health UK Research Oversight Committee. </p> <p>Applicants will need to fall into one of the three categories listed below: </p> <ol> <li>Clinical research professionals with experience of using real world data (RWD) for outcomes research, ideally in cancer </li> <li>PPIE experts or patient representatives with a personal experience or interest in improving cancer research through the fair and transparent use of health data </li> <li>Lay individuals with experience in research ethics approval processes or with a willingness to participate in such an activity </li> </ol> <p><strong>Flatiron Health UK </strong></p> <p>Flatiron Health is a healthcare data and technology company that is building a connected platform enabling the development of actionable insights in cancer research. Our mission is to improve lives by learning from the experience of every cancer patient. You can learn more about our organisation and team in the UK by visiting <a href="http://www.flatironhealth.co.uk">www.flatironhealth.co.uk</a>. </p> <h1><strong>What Youll Participate In</strong></h1> <p>You will be responsible for working with a cross-functional team of Flatiron internal and external committee members to review research requests by research partners (e.g. academic and clinical researchers, pharmaceutical companies) to access Flatiron Health UK’s anonymised real-world data products. Applications must demonstrate that they are in the interest of the UK public and to generate patient benefit in order to be approved. Your responsibility, as a committee member, will be to ensure this is the case.  </p> <h1><strong>Roles and Responsibilities</strong></h1> <p>Work with colleagues from Flatiron Health UK and other members of the committee to:</p> <ul> <li>Attend regular committee meetings and commit to reviewing applications in these meetings and asynchronously as required. The aim is to hold these meetings monthly, but will vary from time to time.</li> <li>Review and assess new and existing data access requests by external researchers to access Flatiron Health UK RWD products </li> <li>Provide feedback to researchers on applications to access Flatiron Health UK RWD products</li> <ul> <li>Reviews will be expected during regular committee meetings and to be conducted asynchronously</li> <li>Committee meetings may be held in person or remotely (via video conferencing), as notified by Flatiron Health UK to the members  </li> </ul> <li>Approve summaries of decisions and outcomes of meetings to be drafted by Flatiron and published on Flatiron Health UK’s website (e.g. a data access register) </li> </ul> <p>Flatiron anticipates that you will be expected to devote no more than five hours per calendar month (with additional hours possible on an exceptional basis). This will include attendance at, and preparation for, committee meetings and decisions required between committee meetings. Committee members will be compensated for this time at fair market value rates for their role on the committee.</p> <h1><strong>Who You Are </strong></h1> <ul> <li>You are passionate about improving cancer research and care through the fair and transparent use of health data</li> <li>You are collaborative and willing to work with different committee members and functional colleagues from across Flatiron </li> <li>You have experience with evaluating the ethics of research studies or are keen to play a role in this process </li> <li>You want to amplify the patient voice in the focus and direction of cancer research</li> </ul>
