Senior Programmer Analyst, Clover Backend Engineer

What does a Backend Engineer do at Clover?

Were Clover, the largest cloud-based integrated commerce operating system for small and medium businesses. In this role, were looking for an experienced backend software engineer to help improve/expand our platform and product. You will accomplish this by maintaining and adding new features, investing/reproducing/resolving bugs, creating helpful documentation, and re-architecting our system to achieve better scalability and availability.

Partnering with the Infrastructure, Product and Design teams, you will be pragmatic in balancing priorities and enjoy working in an iterative model where specifications are constantly changing.

What you will do:

Design and implement REST APIs for mobile and web clients including our web dashboard, 3rd party apps, and payment devices.
Identify technical requirements in product meetings and assist the business team with realistic project planning and feature development; translate product requirements into functional, maintainable, extensible software that is in-line with company objectives.
Own your features from development through deployment and production monitoring.
Participate in design/code reviews.
Partner with the Infrastructure Team to design data models to support large-scale highly available services.
Work with QA to develop test plans/strategies.
Participate in a regular on call rotation.

What you will need:

7+ years of experience developing web applications including designing and managing scalable APIs.
7+ years of experience with Java, including hands-on coding and debugging.
Proficiency with SQL or NoSQL databases, including database design, optimization, and performance tuning.
Familiarity with modern web development frameworks and technologies.
Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapting to changing requirements.
Analytical skills with experience to make data-driven decisions.
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field.

What would be great to have:

Knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Experience with MongoDB, ArgoCD, Kubernetes or Helm Charts.
Knowledgeable with integrating AI Tools to bring in efficiency and improve productivity of teams.

Salary Range

$99,900.00 - $171,200.00

These pay ranges apply to employees in Illinois, California and District of Columbia. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
