You’ll work alongside experienced engineers to develop scalable services and APIs, deepen your technical skills, and learn best practices for operating in a modern software environment. You bring a solid engineering foundation, curiosity, and a passion for backend development. Responsibilities<ul><li>Contribute to the design, development, testing, documentation, and deployment of backend services and APIs</li><li>Participate in the on-call rotation and assist in investigating and resolving production issues</li><li>Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver backend features and improvements</li><li>Take part in code reviews and team discussions to build high-quality, maintainable systems</li><li>Participate in sprint planning, architectural reviews, and efforts to improve engineering processes</li><li>Build familiarity with our systems, platform architecture, and customer use cases</li><li>Stay current with backend technologies, tools, and engineering best practices</li><li>Open to occasional travel to FBG offices or industry events for collaboration and team-building.  </li></ul>Required Qualifications<ul><li>3-6 years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on backend development</li><li>Experience developing backend systems using Java (Spring Framework or similar)  </li><li>Understanding of RESTful API design, microservices architecture, and backend fundamentals</li><li>Familiarity with working in production environments, including debugging and troubleshooting</li><li>Experience with databases (relational or NoSQL) and data modeling basics</li><li>Exposure to Agile/SCRUM methodologies and collaborative development teams</li><li>Effective communicator with a growth mindset and a willingness to take initiative</li><li>Strong analytic and problem-solving abilities and an eagerness to build technical depth</li><li>Team-first mentality, with a willingness to do what it takes to get the job done and a desire to strive for better.  </li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP), or DevOps practices</li><li>Interest in scaling systems, distributed architectures, and performance optimization</li><li>Desire to grow through mentorship, peer collaboration, and hands-on experience</li><li>Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth, or startup-like environments where priorities evolve regularly and decisions are made quickly.</li></ul>Ready to build the future of sports betting? This role is eligible for the Fanatics Betting and Gaming annual bonus program and an equity award. *Salary range is listed in USD; actual salary will vary based on location. *Salary Range: $108,000 - $186,000 per year (actual salary will be determined in part by a successful candidate’s geographic location). In addition to base salary, bonus, and equity, full-time employees are eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, paid time off, and other benefits like GymPass, Pet Insurance, Family Care Benefits, and more.
