FactSet is looking for a motivated Senior Software Engineer to join the Fixed Income Infrastructure Engineering team within the Institutional Buy Side Middle Office organization. In this role, you will support and evolve the technology and platforms used to serve the needs of the various client and development workflows involved in fixed income analytics and data generation. This team works closely with other engineering, product development and quant teams in the Risk and Fixed Income space, as well as several other teams which consume fixed income services and APIs. Fixed income poses a distinctive computational challenge due to the vast universe of available securities, the substantial data required for processing, and the complexity of the mathematical models utilized.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about collaborating to understand existing workflows and distributed computing platforms, along with their requirements for speed, scale, and stability. The candidate will contribute to modernizing our systems to meet current demands, focusing on optimizing performance and enhancing user-friendliness to improve overall time to market. To be successful in this role, a candidate will need to be comfortable with learning and acting as a full stack engineer, as the domain will cover back-end and front-end work, AWS, API design and interaction and more.
Responsibilities:
Improve and expand the usage of an AWS based platform which hosts ephemeral distributed compute fixed income processing environments.
Design and build web-based developer and operational tools.
Design and build consistent APIs for various service and workflow interactions.
Learn developer and production workflows and implement solutions to improve speed, stability and scale, and improve time to market.
Be data driven, publish logs and metrics to enable solid decision making.
Develop and maintain high-quality code and scripts.
Collaborate with other engineers and product developers to brainstorm ideas, prototype and build solutions.
Follow best practices of code reviews, writing tests, writing documentation and use of version control.
Provide expedient triage/support as necessary to avoid downtime and development roadblocks.
Minimum Requirements:
5 years of full life-cycle software development experience with demonstratable project success.
Critical Skills:
Experience developing AWS based solutions.
Familiarity with C# and scripting languages like Python and Powershell.
Familiarity with JavaScript, CSS, HTML. Vue and Flexbox would be a bonus.
Knowledge of CI/CD concepts and tools.
Exposure to relational and NoSQL database technologies.
Desired Skills:
Ability to tackle ambiguously defined problems by gathering requirements and crafting complete solutions.

Strong problem solving and communication skills.
Adaptability and willingness to learn new languages or technology as needed.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science is required.
