In this role, you will drive strategy, execution, and delivery for automation services that empower F5’s product development and operational teams. You’ll be responsible for fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and collaboration while delivering tools and platforms that improve productivity and quality across the engineering organization. </div><div>What You’ll Do </div><div><ul><li>Lead and manage the Unified Automation engineering team, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Define and execute the automation strategy in alignment with F5’s engineering, product, and business objectives. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Partner with Product Management, Architecture, and other engineering teams to prioritize, design, and deliver automation solutions that scale. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Drive the adoption of automation best practices, enabling teams to achieve faster releases, reduced manual effort, and improved reliability. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Oversee the development and maintenance of automation platforms, services, and tools that support testing, deployment, monitoring, and operational workflows. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Ensure solutions meet F5’s standards for security, compliance, performance, and maintainability. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Establish metrics and reporting to track automation adoption, effectiveness, and ROI. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Foster a collaborative, inclusive engineering culture where innovation and continuous improvement thrive. </li></ul></div><div>Minimum Qualifications </div><div><ul><li>7+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in a people leadership or management role. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Proven track record of delivering automation solutions in large-scale, distributed environments. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Strong technical background in software development, with experience in at least one major programming language (Python, Go, Java, or similar). </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, test automation frameworks, infrastructure as code, and cloud-native technologies. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Ability to lead teams through change and build alignment across diverse stakeholders. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. </li></ul></div></div><div><div>Preferred Qualifications </div><div><ul><li>Experience in enterprise-scale SaaS or distributed cloud environments. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Familiarity with Kubernetes, containerization, and microservices architecture. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Knowledge of security and compliance considerations for automation in regulated environments. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Prior experience working in Agile/Scrum development methodologies. </li></ul></div><div> </div></div>The Job Description is intended to be a general representation of the responsibilities and requirements of the job.
