Keeping ahead of fraudsters requires a balance of proactivity and reactivity with the agility to switch focus when necessary.  Our data scientists are central to the automation that keeps threats to our payment platform and our users without our creators or consumers noticing by designing low profile, high precision, AI- and ML-driven solutions to the ever-changing landscape of threats.</p> <br /><br /> <h3>THE TEAM</h3> <br /> <p>The Risk pillar is a high-performing, multi-disciplinary technical development collection of teams that includes data analysts, data scientists, product managers, and engineers. We work together toward the common goal of making Eventbrite the trusted marketplace for live experiences. We collaborate with product teams across the companies to control payment, content publication, and account security risks. Working in an ever-changing threat landscape, we are vigilant for emerging problems. We strive to build solutions through collaboration, building for flexibility, while staying focused on innovative solutions to these complex problems. </p> <br /><br /> <h3>THE ROLE</h3> <br /> <p>You will design and deploy machine learning solutions to risk problems across a wide variety of features throughout the Eventbrite marketplace from transaction monitoring to account security to abusive language detection. You will leverage your familiarity with classic approaches or learn new ones to develop practical, durable solutions to trust issues. You will implement those solutions for use in both real time and offline applications. You will design monitoring and feedback loops to confirm that our solutions remain reliable as the platform develops and our adversaries change tactics. As a team lead, you will identify opportunities to improve team operation both technically and through process improvements.</p> <br /> <h3>THE SKILL SET</h3> <br /> <ul> <li>      Fluency with machine learning algorithms and AI solutions including deploying and monitoring in a production environment including application and data orchestration</li> <li>      Proven ability to create maintainable, iterative solutions and measure success using statistical methods</li> <li>    Excellent communicator and collaborator comfortable working with product, engineering, operations, and functional leadership about technical solutions and analytical findings</li> <li>    Ability to move quickly between problem areas making practical recommendations and autonomous decisions</li> <li>      Strong experience with data processing and machine learning in Python (&gt;5 years)</li> <li>      Comfort with SQL and an ability using it to make sense out of complex data (&gt;5 years)</li> <li>      Passion for mentorship and providing technical leadership over machine learning projects</li> <li>      Advanced Degree in a relevant field</li> </ul> <br /> <h3>BONUS POINTS</h3> <ul> <li>    Direct experience in content moderation, fraud and spam detection or related topics</li> <li>    Experience with DBT, Airflow, Sagemaker ecosystem, and Tableau</li> </ul> ·      Active Eventbrite user with a passion for live events</li> </ul><div><div><div><p><span><strong>PAY TRANSPARENCY</strong></span></p> <p>The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Eventbrite, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
