As a Staff Mechanical Engineer, you’ll lead hands-on integration of design and production, working alongside Product, Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, and external suppliers to shepherd prototypes into high-volume manufacturing. This role requires hands-on presence in our Toronto office 3–5 days per week.  How You’ll Make an Impact <ul> <li> Lead mechanical design from overall architecture through detailed drawings and documentation </li> <li> Optimize existing products for improved quality, capacity, and cost efficiency </li> <li> Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) throughout development: identify issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions </li> <li> Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure new products meet design, quality, and cost targets </li> <li> Manage project timelines and deliverables to ensure on-time, on-plan product launches </li> <li> Research and evaluate materials, components, and emerging technologies for innovative solutions </li> <li> Oversee prototype builds with suppliers and contract manufacturers, ensuring specifications, budget, and schedule are met </li> <li> Administer PLM processes: release prototypes, author assembly/test procedures, and hand off to mass production </li> <li> Source and qualify vendors, suppliers, and contractors; build strategic relationships for global component sourcing </li> <li> Define, procure, and qualify test equipment for product validation and compliance </li> </ul> What You’ll Bring to the Table <ul> <li> Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience </li> <li> 7+ years in manufacturing electromechanical products </li> <li> Advanced CAD skills (SolidWorks and PDM preferred) </li> <li> Strong leadership, mentorship, and project-management abilities </li> <li> Excellent written and verbal communication with internal teams, suppliers, and customers worldwide </li> <li> Expertise in electromechanical assemblies (LCDs, batteries, sensors, flex circuits, PCBs, antennas, buttons) </li> <li> Proficiency in DFM/DFA, statistical tolerance analysis, functional dimensioning, and GD&amp;T </li> <li> Skilled in statistical analysis and data-driven decision making </li> <li> Experience with manufacturing processes (injection molding, sheet metal, stamping, MIM, CNC machining, soft goods) and process validation </li> <li> Familiarity with reliability testing, cosmetic QA, and standard mechanical test methods </li> <li> Track record in product validation (shock/drop, cycle, environmental testing) </li> <li> Experience collaborating with Asian high-volume manufacturing facilities </li> <li> Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple concurrent projects </li> <li> Willingness to travel internationally ~4–5 weeks per year </li> </ul> Preferred Qualifications <ul> <li> Experience in high-volume manufacturing </li> <li> HVAC system knowledge </li> <li> Wireless antenna integration in enclosures (Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi); MID/LDS experience a plus </li> <li> Audio subsystem design (microphones, speakers) </li> <li> Optical or camera system design </li> <li> Thermal modeling and analysis </li> </ul> Just so you know - the hired candidate will be required to complete a background check What happens after you apply: Application review.
