We’re always looking for curious, talented, and passionate people to join our team.</div>Who You’ll Be Joining:    The CDM (Cloud, Data, and Mobile) Engineering team is responsible for developing, maintaining, operating, and addressing the data needs of the back end and mobile experience behind our 5M+ fleet of world-class smart thermostats, and enabling critical energy industry partnerships that help keep power grids healthy and stable while keeping our customers comfortable in their homes. How You’ll Make an Impact: As a Staff Engineering Operations Specialist, you will play a key role in the operations and improvement of engineering practices across ecobee’s progressive CDM Engineering team by helping us grow our engineering maturity and culture. You will be an important partner to all levels of engineering leadership as we continue to create an amazing work environment in which we can consistently and effectively deliver high-quality software. This will include: <ul> <li>Working with engineering leadership to define, measure, and improve our work systems in pursuit of effective, efficient, consistent, and predictable delivery</li> <li>Advocating for and supporting quality as a first-class activity that is built into the way we work in terms of our daily mindset, development practices, bug management, etc</li> <li>Facilitating the healthy and sensible use of metrics to drive important discussions and to inform decision making</li> <li>Administering and coaching on the correct use of Jira and Confluence within ecobee</li> <li>Working with and coaching leaders and teams on continuous improvement related to mindset, work systems, process, tooling, and communication</li> <li>Managing our internal escalation process</li> <li>Potentially managing our API partner program</li> </ul> As part of our 100+ person CDM Engineering team, you will play a significant part in our effort to simplify our customers’ lives and create a more sustainable world. What You’ll Bring to the Table: <ul> <li>Excellent communication and collaboration skills</li> <li>Experience with delivery work system design, improvement, and measurement</li> <li>Experience intelligently surfacing and guiding the use of engineering and delivery metrics to create visibility and support decision making</li> <li>Comfort and experience with the full SDLC</li> <li>A track record of continuously improving tooling and development/delivery practices and making life easier for developers, testers, and leaders</li> <li>A wealth of experience setting up, maintaining, and improving the use of Atlassian Jira and Confluence</li> <li>A love of the craft of software development, automated testing, continuous integration and deployment, design patterns, etc.</li> <li>A demonstrated ability to influence beyond your immediate base of power</li> <li>A history of continuously challenging yourself and the status quo by finding new and better ways to solve complex problems</li> <li>A strong desire to learn and grow</li> </ul> Bonus Points For: <ul> <li>Meaningful experience with Kanban and Scrum done well</li> <li>Meaningful experience with and training on Agile beyond the use canned frameworks</li> <li>Previous experience in a quality-focused leadership role like Staff Quality Engineering or QA Manager.
