<p><span><span>Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Utility Protection and Control Technician II.  <span>In this role, our technicians work remote and travel up to 3 consecutive weeks at a time, work variable hours, including nights &amp; weekends. Travel is primarily in the Northeast and Northeastern Midwest based on customer requirements.  A company vehicle is provided for both business and personal use. </span></span></span></p><p> </p><p><span><span>The expected annual salary range for this role is $91,500 ($44 an hour) - $146,000 ($70.19 an hour) a year. <b><span>In addition to base salary, you receive a per diem and are eligible for premium pay overtime. </span></b></span></span></p><p><span><span>Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. </span></span></p><p> </p><p><span><span>As a Utility P&amp;C Technician II, youll be at the forefront of commissioning transmission and distribution substation additions or modifications.  Your expertise will ensure these systems are installed, functioning and energized correctly.  In addition, youll coordinate all apparatus and relay testing activities, function test activities and documentation of as-left/as-built station status (station prints and as-left relay settings).</span></span></p><div><div><div><h2>What you’ll do:</h2></div><div><ul><li>Work around energized “in-service” electrical equipment to perform testing and commissioning activities on reliability upgrades in energized “brownfield” transmission stations</li><li>Develop isolation plans &amp; procedures for the removal of existing equipment such as protective relays, relay panels, AC/DC panels, battery systems, breakers, transformers, SSVTs, CCVTs, PTs, CTs, linear couplers, etc.</li><li>Communicate technical information to non-technical personnel, educate &amp; present information to customers.</li><li>Assist with testing of substation devices and equipment.</li><li>Identify and resolve design errors. </li><li>Support of field related substation testing and commissioning activities. Plan, perform, coordinate, and supervise on-site testing and commissioning activities as required by project scope.</li><li>Provide field engineering support to the electricians in the wiring of the substation protective relaying and control system, verifying the wiring is full complete per the design drawings.</li><li>Provide commissioning oversight of substation installations.</li><li>Develop on-site coordination of equipment, work plans, isolation (cut-over) plans, functional test plans, equipment lists, final documentation uploads, complete project binder, equipment energization lists, equipment energization notifications, and unintended incident notifications.</li><li>Apply engineering skills and operational knowledge in the identification and resolution of technical problems in the field during the installation phase and testing phase.</li><li>Witness or perform critical tests such as DC functional trip testing prior to energization and in-service.</li></ul></div></div><div><div><h2>Qualifications:</h2></div><div><p><strong>Basic Qualifications: </strong></p><ul><li>5+ years of substation relay testing experience OR combination of 3+ years professional experience and relevant technical education/military experience </li><li>Must reside within the contiguous United States to be considered </li><li>Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license.</li><li>Submit to initial and periodic customer required background and drug screenings</li><li>Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future </li></ul><p> <br /><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Associate or Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering or engineering technology from an accredited institution and/or applicable military experience.</li><li>7+ years of relevant substation field engineering experience.</li><li>Level 3 or 4 NETA or NICET certification.</li><li>Professional Engineering license</li></ul><p><span>#LI-CM1</span></p></div></div><div><div><h2>Skills:</h2></div><div><p>Skills:</p><ul><li>Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel, educating customers, and presenting information to internal and external customers.</li><li>Ability to provide service and represent company interests in developing customer relationships to assure long-term customer satisfaction.</li><li>Willingness and aptitude for training and mentoring technicians and other members of technical engineering team.</li><li>Transmission substation relay test experience.</li><li>Knowledge and practice of safety precautions related to working with electrical and electronic equipment. </li><li>Experience with relay testing software such as Enoserve (RTS) and Doble Protection Suite.</li><li>Experience with relay communication software such as SEL Compass, AcSELerator Quickset (SEL-5030), GE (Enervista Launchpad), RFL (Gard PRO), and other common industry software.</li><li>Knowledgeable with all aspects of the testing &amp; operation of various protective relays and power meters, including all device types: microprocessor-based, solid state, and electro-mechanical.</li><li>Relevant experience in substation field engineering services and technical support for the construction, testing, and commissioning of substation equipment up to and including 500kV – Must include but is not limited to; Protective Relays, Relay Panels, AC/DC Panels, Battery Systems, Breakers, Transformers, SSVTs, CCVTs, PTs, CTs, Linear Couples, etc. Including the development of isolation plans and procedures.</li><li>Ability to read drawings and understand various protection schemes and proper checkout techniques for the troubleshooting and correcting of non-working schemes.</li></ul></div></div></div><p><span><span><strong>The application window for this position is anticipated to close on 06.30.2025</strong></span></span></p><p> </p><p><span><span>We are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
