Manager, State & Local Income Taxes

DuPont has an opening in its corporate tax department in Wilmington, DE for a Manager in the State & Local Income Tax group. This position will play a pivotal role by ensuring DuPont is handling its state and local income tax reporting and compliance obligations correctly. This position will also support compliance process improvements, tax automation, and tax modeling projects related to both direct and indirect state and local taxes.

This is an onsite position. Team members work 3 days onsite and 2 days remote.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the accurate preparation and review of corporate and partnership state and local tax returns while working with team members located in India and outside consultants.

  • Conduct tax research and analysis to ensure compliance with applicable tax laws

  • Identify opportunities for state and local tax savings and develop strategies to implement those opportunities

  • Review tax schedules prepared by team members/consultants to support the preparation of tax provision requirements and tax returns.

  • Review tax notices for income, franchise, CAT, and other taxes and determine the proper way to respond.

  • Coordinate tax audits, including planning audits, responding to information requests, and addressing audit findings.

  • Assist with various tax projects, including the state tax analysis on M&A Transactions.

  • Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations

  • Lead the quarterly income tax provision process as it relates to the computation of the state and local income tax portion of the Company’s ETR

  • Develop expertise in using the Company’s financial systems (SAP), tax software (OneSource), and other data tools.

Education & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field;

  • 8+ years of tax compliance, planning, and controversy experience in a large multinational corporate tax environment and/or top tier accounting firm

  • Experience with tax preparation software (OneSource Income Tax preferred) and financial accounting systems

  • Understanding of indirect tax

  • Demonstrated excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

  • Flexibility to operate in a fast-paced, complex environment

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize deadlines

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team; with a curiosity and desire to learn

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, emphasis on Excel

  • Working knowledge of tax laws and regulations

Preferred:

  • CPA or advanced degree in taxation preferred
