In this role, you’ll design and build AI-powered tools that improve how engineers write, test, and ship code. You’ll focus on reducing friction, eliminating repetitive work, and improving code quality, ultimately enabling teams to move faster and deliver more reliably. </span><span>You’ll work closely with engineers across the company to identify pain points, validate solutions, and drive adoption. Check out our blog post on this topic and more </span><span><a href="https://dropbox.tech/culture/sharing-our-engineering-career-framework-with-the-world" target="_blank">here</a></span><span>.</span></p> <h2>Responsibilities</h2> <ul> <li><span>Lead the design and implementation of tools, systems, and processes that accelerate engineering velocity, reduce manual toil, and improve code quality at scale</span></li> <li><span>Leverage AI to automate and enhance key stages of the development lifecycle, including code reviews, testing, documentation, and debugging</span></li> <li><span>Evaluate and integrate AI-powered software development tools into our existing development environment to enhance productivity and code quality</span></li> <li><span>Provide technical support and guidance to ensure smooth adoption and effective use of AI tooling within engineering workflows</span></li> <li><span>Research, recommend, and pilot new AI tools and frameworks that could benefit our software engineering processes.</span></li> <li><span>Define and track success metrics for AI tools, using data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement and prioritize future investments</span></li> <li><span>Define and promote best practices for the safe, responsible, and observable use of AI in software development, working closely with security and compliance teams</span></li> <li><span>Partner directly with engineers to validate ideas, gather feedback, and iterate on AI tools that solve real development problems</span></li> <li><span>Stay current with advancements in AI and developer tooling, translating emerging capabilities into practical opportunities for our teams</span></li> </ul> <p><span><span>Many teams at Dropbox run Services with on-call rotations, which entails being available for calls during both core and non-core business hours. Applicants are encouraged to ask for more details of the rotations to which the applicant is applying.</span></span></p> <h2>Requirements</h2> <ul> <li><span>5+ years of professional software development experience</span></li> <li><span>BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding</span> <span>(e.g.,</span><span> physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical experience</span></li> <li><span>Proficient in programming and debugging across a range of languages such as Python, Go, C/C++, or Java</span></li> <li><span>Experience designing and building internal tools, developer platforms, or productivity systems that scale across large engineering organizations</span></li> <li><span>Comfortable operating in ambiguity and fast-changing environments; proactively brings clarity, structure, and direction when faced with uncertainty</span></li> <li><span>Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to gather feedback, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and work directly with engineers to iterate on solutions</span></li> <li><span>Proven track record of defining &amp; delivering well-scoped milestones/projects</span></li> <li><span>Ability to independently define right solutions for ambiguous, open-ended problems</span></li> </ul> <h2>Preferred Qualifications</h2> <ul> <li><span>Proficiency in AI/ML concepts</span></li> <li><span>Familiarity with modern AI-powered developer tools, frameworks, and APIs.</span></li> <li><span>Experience driving initiatives in the developer productivity space</span></li> </ul> <h2><span>Compensation</span></h2><div><div><div>Canada Pay Range</div><div><span>$168,300</span><span>—</span><span>$227,700 CAD</span></div></div></div>
