This includes product engineering, media engineering, quality assurance, engineering behind personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.Job Summary:We are looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager who can attract and retain diverse engineering talent, drive a culture of ownership and excellence, and own the development of strategic services and infrastructure. The right person will collaborate closely with partners, product &amp; program managers, and developers across Disney Streaming organizations to deliver best in class customer experiences to enable growth of Disney Streaming products worldwide. Youll join a hardworking group of engineers who build and manage systems that is the source of truth for all D+ telemetry and validates all telemetry for all D+ clients  - ultimately powering D+ analytics and quality metrics.  The team is also responsible for user friendly interfaces for E2E stakeholders like clint devs, QA, business analysts, backend engineers, product, etc.Were passionate about data - just like you! Youll apply your experience with database technologies to construct distributed, large-scale services.Responsibilities:<ul><li>Building and maintaining a diverse software engineering team: training, career development, mentoring, and process improvement</li><li>Ownership of roadmap and engineering vision for applications and tools</li><li>Collaboration with product managers and other business partners to prioritize work and set goals for the team</li><li>Refining engineering practices and maintaining operational excellence</li><li>Diligence, thoughtfulness, and great verbal and written communication skills</li><li>Proactivity and ability to move fast or pivot to meet the changing needs of the product</li><li>Curiosity for emerging technologies and ability to create space for growth and evolution of products and team</li></ul>Basic Qualifications:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.</li><li>3+ years of engineering management experience</li><li>8+ years of software engineering experience with a significant portion as a programmer and/or technical leader.</li><li>Experience attracting diverse talent, building and leading teams</li><li>Strong programming skills in an object-oriented language, and a strong grasp of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, databases, etc.)</li><li>Experience with Event driven systems architectures</li><li>Practical knowledge and relevant experience deploying web services in cloud infrastructure</li><li>Experience writing unit tests / implementing test driven development processes</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>Experience with Svelte or modern UI frameworks.</li><li>Experience with AWS cloud technologies</li><li>Experience with server-side rendering (SSR), experience with e2e testing frameworks Playwright or Cypress, Vite or Webpack, experience with observability tools.</li><li>Experience with storage technologies: DynamoDB, RDBMS, NoSQL</li><li>Experience working with remote global teams and a flexible schedule to meet in different time zones.</li></ul>The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA is $167,700 - $224,900 per year, Seattle, WA / New York, NY is $175,800 - $235,700 per year and in San Francisco, CA is $183,700 - $246,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
