You will lead our Brand and Web Experience team and work closely with the Product Manager and with technical and business leaders across DigitalOcean to provide critical leadership to ensure a world class brand presence through the engineering and presentation of our public facing properties. By playing a key role in engineering processes and best practices, you will provide guidance and mentorship to a team of dedicated and enthusiastic engineers. The ideal candidate should have deep roots in leading full stack engineering teams delivering world-class web experiences, while building strong partnerships with stakeholders and senior leadership.</p> <h2><strong>What You’ll Do:</strong></h2> <ul> <li>Lead and mentor a team of frontend and full-stack engineers, fostering growth and technical excellence.</li> <li>Oversee the technical roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals and engineering standards.</li> <li>Be hands-on and provide input to software architecture, design, and optimization of scalable full-stack software solutions, including developing technical strategy and roadmap for our internal systems like our CMS, tooling, open source software, deployment strategy, and operational excellence.</li> <li>Collaborate across the organization and consistently interface with product, design, UX, marketing and other technical and non-technical stakeholders.</li> <li>Develop and refine processes and tools to improve team performance, quality-of-life, as well as product performance and quality. Leverage and evangelize the use of AI tooling to improve engineering velocity and quality, where appropriate.</li> <li>Career coaching including performance assessment, and career development.</li> </ul> <h2><strong>What You’ll Add to DigitalOcean:</strong></h2> <ul> <li>6+ years of software development experience, with at least 2+ years in a leadership role as an Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, or equivalent role.</li> <li>Strong hands-on experience with Javascript, Typescript, or Go. Experience with React.js, Next.js and Node.js will go a long way in this role.</li> <li>Experience with foundational backend and infrastructure technologies, like PostgresSQL, Nginx, CI/CD and Kubernetes.</li> <li>Solid understanding of full-stack architecture, performance optimization, and scalability principles within an Enterprise-class software system.</li> <li>Able to make effective trade-offs in regards to both engineering and product requirements, while balancing short term and long term needs.</li> <li>Experience developing cross-disciplinary collaboration between engineering, operations, support, and product groups.</li> <li>Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.</li> <li>Experience managing, coaching, and mentoring software engineers.</li> <li>Experience with staffing, interviewing, building, and retaining teams.</li> <li>Experience conveying complex ideas in written, verbal and presentational formats to get buy-ins from diverse stakeholders.</li> <li>Prior experience leveraging AI tooling to augment productivity and evangelizing their use for engineering teams.</li> <li>Ideal candidates have experience in networking and internet engineering best practices.</li> </ul> <h2><strong>Why You’ll Like Working for DigitalOcean</strong></h2> <ul> <li><strong>We innovate with purpose. </strong>You’ll be a part of a cutting-edge technology company with an upward trajectory, who are proud to simplify cloud and AI so builders can spend more time creating software that changes the world. You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance.
