Meet the team: 

Senior Director, Global Advocacy & Policy will be a pivotal leader responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive advocacy strategy and shaping the external policy environment that champions the needs of people with diabetes, their caregivers, and the broader diabetes community. This role will primarily drive engagement with patient advocacy organizations, professional societies, policymakers, and other key stakeholders to ensure our products and services are accessible, understood, and impactful. The Senior Director will play a critical role in shaping the external landscape for diabetes device innovation and adoption, ensuring the patient voice is at the forefront of our strategic initiatives. Ability to develop long-term strategies, anticipate future trends, and connect advocacy efforts to overall business objectives 

 

Where you come in:  

  • Develop, implement, and oversee a multi-year advocacy strategy aligned with company goals, product development, and market access objectives. 

  • Identify key policy, regulatory, and access barriers impacting people with diabetes and devise strategies to address them. 

  • Monitor the evolving healthcare landscape, emerging policy trends, and patient needs to proactively identify opportunities for advocacy. 

  • Provide strategic guidance to internal teams (e.g., Clinical, Regulatory, Market Access, Commercial, Legal) on patient advocacy perspectives and considerations. 

  • Cultivate and maintain strong, authentic relationships with national and regional patient advocacy organizations (e.g., ADA, Breakthrough T1D, ADCES, etc.), professional societies, and key opinion leaders in the diabetes community. 

  • Identify, evaluate, and manage strategic partnerships, sponsorships, and grant opportunities with advocacy groups. 

  • Represent the company at industry conferences, patient forums, and public events 

  • Work closely with Government Affairs and Market Access teams to support policy initiatives that enhance access to diabetes technology, including reimbursement, coverage, and favorable regulatory pathways. 

  • Develop advocacy materials (e.g., white papers, position statements, presentations) to communicate the value and impact of Dexcom’s devices to external stakeholders. 

 

What makes you successful 

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in patient advocacy, public affairs, government relations, or a similar external-facing role within the healthcare industry, with at least 5 years specifically in a senior leadership (Director or Sr. Director) capacity. 

  • Direct experience working with or within the diabetes community (patient advocacy organizations, professional societies) is highly desirable. 

  • Demonstrated experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical, or biotech industry. 

  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful advocacy strategies that have led to tangible outcomes. 

  • Experience navigating complex regulatory and reimbursement landscapes in healthcare.

Travel Required:  

  • 15-25% 

Experience and Education Requirements: 

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree with 20+ years of industry experience 
  • 15+ years of successful leadership experience in relevant industry 

Remote Workplace: Your location will be a home office; you are not required to live within commuting distance of your assigned Dexcom site (typically 75 miles/120km). If you reside within commuting distance of a Dexcom site (typically 75 miles/120km) a hybrid working environment may be available. Ask about our Flex workplace option.
