<h2>Snapshot</h2> <p>The Strategy &amp; Operations team is responsible for Google DeepMind’s hybrid physical and information security operations. This team keeps ahead of emerging threats to GDM by strategically evaluating, prioritising and implementing new initiatives to mitigate complex risks. This team is highly agile and excels in fast-paced environments, with the ability to quickly switch from strategic thinking to managing critical and complex security incidents affecting GDM.</p> <p>In addition, the Strategy &amp; Operations team is responsible for delivering exceptional governance with Google teams and specialist third-parties, enabling scalable, high-quality, and flexible security services that fulfill the evolving priorities and requirements of GDM.</p> <p>You must be a strong leader and collaborator with exceptional communication skills. We use our technologies for widespread public benefit and scientific discovery, and collaborate with others on critical challenges, ensuring safety and ethics are the highest priority.</p> <h2>The Role</h2> <p>Strategy and operations:</p> <ul> <li>Lead the strategic evaluation, prioritisation and implementation of new physical and information security initiatives and programs to mitigate emerging risks to GDM</li> <li>Lead the design of physical and information security operations in collaboration with key stakeholders, optimising them for GDM research and products</li> <li>Lead physical and information security programs for GDM real-world deployments, including Robotics and Science</li> <li>Manage high priority security incidents affecting GDM people, operations, and information, in close partnership with Security &amp; Privacy and Google</li> <li>Establish close and collaborative relationships with Google’s physical and information security teams, including senior leaders and executives</li> <li>Partner with Security &amp; Privacy teams on vulnerability assessments, identifying and recommending new controls to mitigate risks</li> </ul> <p>Governance:</p> <ul> <li>Lead strategic partnerships with Google physical and information security teams</li> <li>Lead governance programs with Google and third-parties, ensuring GDM receives professional and measurable services that fulfil its evolving priorities and requirements</li> <li>Lead a 24/7 operation on behalf of Security &amp; Privacy, including the timely remediation of security and privacy vulnerabilities</li> <li>Lead Security &amp; Privacy’s incident management procedures and ensure GDM is aligned and integrated with Google incident management</li> </ul> <h2>About You</h2> <p><strong>In order to set you up for success at Google DeepMind,  we look for the following skills and experience:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Progressive leadership experience in physical and information security, from operations and incident management to prioritising and delivering complex projects</li> <li>Experience in security governance, from establishing, prioritising and resourcing strategic initiatives to delivering vulnerability and risk management programs</li> <li>Experience leading and managing small and agile teams in different time zones that prioritise exceptional output</li> <li>Experience managing high performing and specialist third-parties, producing contracts with clear and measurable outputs</li> <li>Experience building high trust relationships and influencing senior leaders and executives</li> <li>Excellent program management skills with proven experience delivering complex projects at scale</li> <li>Exceptional verbal and written communication skills</li> <li>Agile and adaptable, thrives in dynamic and fast-paced environments where creativity, prioritisation and a solve-for-problems first attitude are critical</li> <li>Ability to switch from a 10,000 feet strategic view to incident management</li> <li>Degree in Information Security, Security Risk Management, or related subject</li> <li>Strong understanding of key security standards, such as ISO 27001 and NIST</li> <li>Relevant certifications (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CPP) are an advantage</li> <li>Experience in government and/or research and technology is an advantage</li> </ul> <p><span>At Google DeepMind, we value diversity of experience, knowledge, backgrounds and perspectives and harness these qualities to create extraordinary impact.
