The current suite of systems includes multiple applications including, but not limited, to the Tier 1 systems for Retail Pharmacy.  This Manager, as player/coach, will partner and collaborate with the development manager, business analysts, architects, quality assurance, business partners, developers, and project managers to deliver business change and innovation into our Java based business applications software.  This Staff Software Development Engineering Manager will additionally be involved throughout the entire development life cycle of a product and must be able to deliver an efficient solution, as well as identify and properly mitigate any risks to the product before deployment to production.Expectations for the Role:<ul><li>Work as a Development Engineering Manager with experience on building mission critical /highly scalable application with large user/infrastructure footprint</li><li>Lead and manage a team of engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance feedback.</li><li>Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and timeline requirements.</li><li>Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and mitigating risks.</li><li>Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and teamwork within the engineering department.</li><li>Manage resource allocation, including hiring, training, and development of engineering staff.</li><li>Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud computing, and microservices architectures</li><li>Provide leadership and high-level direction to teams, frequently overseeing employee populations across multiple products supporting different business functions</li><li>As requested, act as primary interface with internal and external executives and senior leaders, achieving consensus among stakeholders with competing objectives</li><li>Foster a culture of continuous open feedback within teams and business unit</li><li>Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to product development and optimization</li><li>Have a passion for innovation, with a customer-centric mindset focused on delivering exceptional user experiences</li><li>Extensive experience with building and driving adoption of software engineering best practices</li><li>Ability to learn/work with emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the Cloud/IT technology space</li><li>Ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries, build relationships, and achieve broader organizational goals</li></ul>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS<ul><li>7+ Years of Engineering Management / Team Lead experience in enterprise/web applications </li><li>7+ years of software development experience in enterprise/web applications</li><li>7+ years of experience as full stack developer in Java-based technologies</li><li>4+ years of experience with React/Angular</li><li>4+ years of experience in modern programming languages and cloud-based technologies (GCP is preferred)</li><li>3+ years of experience with building application programming interfaces (API) and frameworks in their field; experience in API security, analytics, throttling, caching, logging, request and response modifications</li></ul>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS<ul><li>Experience in Retail Pharmacy or Healthcare domain</li><li>Experience in Agile development practices</li><li>Experience with Azure, GCP or other public cloud services, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), SaaS application development/support, CI/CD practices, containerization, Kubernetes, and Agile/DevOps methodologies</li><li>Familiarity with React JS, Nodejs or other front-end frameworks; ability to develop effective engineering practices and processes</li><li>Expertise in working in in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goal</li><li>Extensive experience of Microservices Patterns and its right implementation</li><li>Knowledge with GraphQL/gRPC.</li><li>Knowledge of open-source packages especially those provided by Apache, Google, and Spring</li><li>Database knowledge – SQL, NoSQL, table structure, data relationships</li><li>Familiarity with product management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Rally, or equivalent product engineering collaboration tools</li><li>PMP certification</li></ul>EDUCATIONBachelor’s degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)BUSINESS OVERVIEWBring your heart to CVS Health Every one of us at CVS Health shares a single, clear purpose: Bringing our heart to every moment of your health.
