This position is responsible for overseeing complex sales and use tax return preparation, tax research, and planning. This role involves contacting internal and external customers to resolve intricate tax matters and ensure compliance with tax obligations. If you are looking for an opportunity to join an expanding company where there is room to grow, please read on!</span></p><p><br /><b><span>Key Responsibilities</span></b>:</p><ul><li><b>Data analytics</b>: Review sales tax returns prepared by external 3rd party ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely filing; Reconcile tax to General Ledger; Analyze trends and investigate outliers.</li><li><b>Oversee sales tax compliance:</b> Complete sales tax registrations, exemption certificates, and ongoing support for business partners staying up to date with changing regulations and laws.</li><li><b>Support sales tax audits and disputes</b>: Assist with sales tax audits, gather documentation, and communicate with business partners and tax authorities.</li><li><b>Provide sales tax consulting and planning:</b> Offer guidance on sales tax implications for business decisions, such as nexus determinations, taxability, and exemption opportunities.</li><li><b>Collaborate with internal and external teams:</b> Communicate effectively with business partners to gather information, address questions, and deliver high-quality service.</li></ul><p></p><p><b><span>Qualifications:</span></b></p><p><b><span>Minimum:</span></b></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 4 years of experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree in accounting and 2 years’ experience in a related field.</li><li>Strong analytical, technical, written, and oral communication skills.</li><li>Ability to lead, manage and prioritize multiple assignments and projects; resolve complex tax issues; and consistently deliver a thorough and accurate work product with great attention to detail.</li><li>Highly motivated, self-starter with demonstrated performance as a team player.</li><li>Proficiency with MS Office suite of products.</li></ul><p><b><span>Preferred:</span></b></p><ul><li>CPA or CMI.</li><li>Proven experience specifically with sales/use tax.</li><li>Experience is telecom industry and regulatory reporting requirements (Ex: USAC 499A/Qs).</li><li>Strong knowledge of sales tax laws, regulations, and industry developments.</li><li>Proficiency in sales tax software and technologies (e.g., Avalara, Vertex).</li><li>Experience with process automation projects and/or automation software (e.g. Alteryx, Power BI, UIPath).</li></ul><p></p><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><p><b>Benefits</b></p></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company’s needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members.
