Job Description: Staff AccountantOverview: The Staff Accountant plays a vital role in maintaining financial records and ensuring that financial transactions are accurately recorded. This position assists in the period-end close process, prepares account reconciliations, investigates variances, and works collaboratively with various teams within the accounting and finance departments. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently when necessary while maintaining confidentiality with sensitive information.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:<ul><li>Participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes, ensuring that all financial information is accurately reflected in the general ledger in compliance with GAAP.</li><li>Prepare and upload journal entries with appropriate support, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.</li><li>Conduct month-end tracking, review, and reconciliation of expense accruals; perform basic reconciliations of general ledger account balances and investigate reconciling items.</li><li>Support other Finance Department associates and provide assistance in achieving departmental KPI targets.</li><li>Collect sample data for SOX testing and maintain SOX documentation for review by management and auditors.</li><li>Assist internal and external auditors during quarterly and year-end audits by providing supporting schedules, account analysis, reconciliations, and roll-forwards.</li><li>Review and assess exception reports, investigating significant variances and unexpected results.</li><li>Identify and propose process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.</li><li>Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to meet deadlines and ensure timely financial reporting.</li><li>Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information and uphold the highest standards of integrity in all interactions.</li><li>Utilize Microsoft Excel and other software to design models that streamline accounting processes and enhance data accuracy.</li><li>Participate in special projects as directed by management, performing other duties requiring independent judgment and skills.</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.</li><li>CPA designation or CPA track preferred.</li><li>Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in public or private accounting or finance, with a focus on financial accounting and analysis.</li><li>Public accounting/audit experience preferred but not necessary.</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with general ledger and financial reporting systems; experience with AS-400 is beneficial but not required.</li><li>Advanced understanding of US GAAP and familiarity with components of a strong internal control environment.</li><li>Experience with multiple entity/subsidiary organizations and intercompany transactions preferred.</li></ul>Competencies (Skills &amp; Abilities):<ul><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).</li><li>Ability to convey complex information in an easily understandable format.</li><li>Excellent multitasking abilities and adaptability to shifting priorities.</li><li>Strong attention to detail and accuracy.</li><li>Creative problem-solving skills and a commitment to continual learning and personal development.</li><li>Proven ability to meet deadlines and work effectively as part of a team.</li></ul>Physical Demands/Work Environment:<ul><li>Remote working environment with extensive computer use.</li><li>Evening/weekend work may be required during the close process to meet company deadlines.</li></ul>Salary may vary depending on factors such as confirmed job-related skills, experience, and location. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each case.However, the pay range for this position is as follows.
