<h3>About Us</h3><p>Constructor is the next-generation platform for search and discovery in e-commerce, built to explicitly optimize for metrics like revenue, conversion rate, and profit. Our search engine is entirely invented in-house utilizing transformers and generative LLMs, and we use its core and personalization capabilities to power everything from search itself to recommendations to shopping agents. Engineering is by far our largest department, and we’ve built our proprietary engine to be the best on the market, having never lost an AB test to a competitive technology. We’re passionate about maintaining this and work on the bleeding edge of AI to do so.</p><p>Out of necessity, our engine is built for extreme scale and powers over 1 billion queries every day across X languages and with customers based out of Y countries. It was founded by Eli Finkelshteyn and Dan McCormick who still lead the company today.</p><h3>About the Team</h3><p>The Recommendation Cross-Channel &amp; Offsite Discovery team is building a platform that empowers marketers to unlock the full potential of multichannel ecommerce discovery. Our service leverages real-time shopper behaviour from website activity to power personalized offsite experiences across multiple channels - including Emails, Push notifications, ads, and more. </p><p>In a nutshell, we provide real-time personalized experience in static emails and specialize in delivering high-volume traffic (up to 10,000 requests per second). Our goal is to show shoppers what they want, when they want it - boosting engagement, driving revenue, and delivering robust campaign analytics insights at scale. </p><p>Were a passionate team of cross-functional engineers who love challenges and want to make shoppers lives better. We believe that empowering everyone in a company to do what they think is best can lead to great things.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><p>As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading and scaling the Offsite Discovery team to build a performant, scalable, reliable, and cost-efficient platform that delivers personalized results beyond the storefront. Specific responsibilities include: </p><ul><li>Partner with the Product Manager and other stakeholders to set quarterly goals tied to measurable service and business impact</li><li>Guide engineers’ growth by helping them develop new skills, expand ownership, and overcome challenges</li><li>Lead the recruiting and hiring processes for your team</li><li>Define and execute the team’s engineering strategy</li><li>Establish metrics, dashboards, and alerting that make operational health and delivery success transparent</li><li>Continuously improve the team’s operational excellence through the team’s tech stack, processes, and tools</li><li>Drive measurable improvements in the product capabilities, costs, and performance</li><li>Collaborate with neighboring engineering and non-engineering teams, define and maintain clear interfaces and ownership boundaries</li></ul><ul><li>5+ years of software development experience, at least 2 years directly leading engineering teams</li><li>Proven record of designing and operating high-load real-time systems in production environments</li><li>Proficiency in Python and experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS preferred). Familiarity with JavaScript is a plus</li><li>Solid understanding of system architecture and API design principles</li><li>Experience hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers in fast-growing teams</li><li>Skilled at setting technical direction and translating product goals into clear engineering milestones</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English</li><li>Able to attend regular meetings between 11 am – 5 pm UTC</li></ul>
