This specific role is part of the team responsible for building and maintaining a platform to better evaluate and assess the risk of companies that apply for Cyber Insurance.</p> <p>The platform integrates with cutting-edge security data, insurance contract information, and additional proprietary data sources to assess cyber risk.</p> <p>In this role, you’ll be working with the principal engineer and other backend/frontend engineers, and will write backend services and assist in designing systems that apply a combination of business rules and AI to help improve our Underwriter user experience and improve automations.</p> <p>Our platform comprises services written in Python. We prioritize selecting the most suitable tools for each task and make pragmatic decisions to scale and decouple systems as we expand.</p> <p>Youll work on an extremely cross-functional team that collaborates closely both internally and externally with the larger engineering organization.</p> </div> <h4><span>Responsibilities</span></h4> <ul> <li>Writing scalable and clean code; write unit and integration tests; ship with high quality and confidence.</li> <li>Create alerts, monitors, and dashboards to ensure operational stability and observability.</li> <li>Lead small projects independently or work with a team of engineers for medium-large projects, collaborating with stakeholders.</li> </ul> <h4><span>Skills and Qualifications</span></h4> <ul> <li>Python, Flask/FastAPI</li> <li>Distributed systems</li> <li>Microservices</li> <li>Architecture, systems design</li> <li>AWS/GCP, public cloud</li> <li>Terraform, Datadog</li> <li>SQL/NoSQL DB</li> </ul> <h4><span>Bonus Points </span></h4> <ul> <li>We expect candidates to embrace AI-powered tools like Cursor and Co-pilot to aggressively accelerate software delivery and maximize development efficiency, with mandatory adoption required upon joining.</li> <li>Experience with GenAI, Agents</li> <li>Golang</li> <li>AWS experience, Insurance domain experience, Underwriting domain experience</li> </ul> <h4><span>Compensation</span></h4> <p><span>Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The US base salary for this position ranges from $99,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $130,000/year in our highest geographic market. Consistent with applicable laws, an employees pay within this range is based on a number of factors, which include but are not limited to relevant education, skills, job-related knowledge, qualifications, work experience, credentials, and/or geographic location.
