With ClickPipes, our managed ingestion platform, we make it seamless for customers to bring data from the systems they rely on directly into ClickHouse. We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Database Integrations team—the group that builds and owns the core connectors (Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, BigQuery, and more to come). This is a high-impact, high-trust role at the center of our growth story, combining deep technical leadership, customer empathy, and a founder-like mindset. As the Engineering Manager for ClickPipes Database Integrations, you’ll lead a team responsible for designing, building, and scaling the pipelines that connect ClickHouse to the world’s most important data systems. You’ll work hand-in-hand with Product to shape roadmaps, make trade-offs with business impact in mind, and complement product vision with strong technical execution. This role goes beyond engineering leadership. Together with your team, you’ll help shape how ClickHouse shows up externally—whether that’s representing us at conferences, speaking at industry events, or contributing content that reinforces our position as the best place to run real-time data workloads. <h2>What You’ll Do</h2> <ul> <li>End-to-end responsibility for Database (such as Postgres, MongoDB) and data warehouse (such as BigQuery, Snowflake) integrations, including CDC, initial snapshots, schema evolution, backfills, and correctness at scale.</li> <li>Recruit, coach, and develop a high-bar team; set crisp expectations and foster a culture of ownership, speed, and continuous improvement.</li> <li>Jump into designs and code for complex flows (e.g., WAL/binlog/oplog handling, LSN/GTID management, idempotency/exactly-once behaviors, backpressure).</li> <li>Mentor and coach your team — provide regular feedback, create growth opportunities, and support advancement in technical and leadership skills, while fostering a healthy, inclusive environment built on empathy, psychological safety, trust, and a high technical bar.</li> <li>Build the culture of operational excellence: Own SLOs, reliability, on-call quality, and cost-efficiency for k8s-hosted, multi-tenant services across cloud regions.</li> <li>Systematize support, reduce toil, and build self-serve/auto-healing capabilities.</li> <li>Shape the product vision, transform it into the  roadmap, sequence bets for business impact, and ship fast with tight feedback loops.</li> <li>Inspire blog posts, guides, and talks; personally present at meetups/conferences to showcase our work and lessons learned.</li> <li>Join key customer calls, turn feedback into roadmap and fixes, and make upgrades/migrations predictable and safe. </li> </ul> <h2>Qualifications</h2> <ul> <li>Leadership &amp; Team Development </li> <ul> <li>3+ years managing software engineers with a track record of hiring, developing, and retaining strong talent.</li> <li>Experience leading distributed global teams, fostering an inclusive and autonomous culture, and creating clarity across time zones.</li> <li>Proven ability to mentor and coach engineers and emerging leaders, raising the technical and leadership bar. </li> </ul> <li>Culture &amp; Execution </li> <ul> <li>Demonstrated success building highly technical teams that value ownership, speed, and continuous improvement.</li> <li>Comfortable driving execution in ambiguous environments: setting crisp priorities, sequencing bets, and delivering impact without over-process.</li> <li>Strong communicator, able to align stakeholders internally and represent the team externally (conferences, blogs, talks). </li> </ul> <li>Technical Excellence </li> <ul> <li>10+ years of industry experience building data-intensive or distributed systems.</li> <li>Hands-on: you still enjoy diving into code/designs for complex or critical areas, reviewing code, and guiding via feedback.</li> <li>Deep database replication/CDC expertise and fluency with correctness, ordering, backpressure, and recovery at scale.</li> <li>Strong Go (or willingness to ramp quickly with prior deep systems language experience).</li> <li>K8s in production and multi-cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure) experience. </li> </ul> <li>Customer Mindset </li> <ul> <li>Customer-centric: adept at turning feedback and pain points into product wins.</li> <li>Bias for shipping fast with tight feedback loops, balancing reliability and agility. </li> </ul> </ul> Why This Team <ul> <li>Shape how the world gets data into ClickHouse reliably at massive scale.</li> <li>Operate with ownership, autonomy, and speed while keeping the company lean.</li> <li>High visibility: your work directly impacts growth, reliability, and customer happiness.</li> </ul>   #LI-Remote<div><h3>Compensation</h3> For roles based in the United States, the typical starting salary range for this position is listed above. In certain locations, such as Los Angeles, CA, the San Francisco Bay Area, CA, the Seattle, WA, Area, and the New York City Metro Area, a premium market range may apply, as listed.
