This senior role requires both deep technical expertise and a commitment to engineering excellence. The Principal Engineer will enhance the overall technical proficiency of the organization by leading through example and providing mentorship and support to colleagues.Responsibilities:<ul><li>Analyze a variety of complex technical issues and provide insightful solutions.</li><li>Research, design, and develop systems based on strong computer science fundamentals and application development principles.</li><li>Integrate deep application development knowledge with broader technology functions to achieve strategic goals.</li><li>Provide technical expertise and advanced knowledge of applications programming, ensuring adherence to architectural blueprints.</li><li>Implement complex solutions hands-on.</li><li>Mentor and guide team members across various technology disciplines.</li><li>Cultivate a collaborative and supportive environment for subject matter experts.</li><li>Collaborate with senior leaders across functions and external parties as needed.</li><li>Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firms reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>10+ years of experience in system development.</li><li>Expertise in modern technology stacks, frameworks, and tools (e.g., cloud platforms, microservices, containerization).</li><li>Advanced knowledge of system design, coding best practices, testing methodologies, debugging techniques, and implementation strategies.</li><li>Proven ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code adhering to software engineering best practices.</li><li>Demonstrated success leading large-scale technology initiatives and delivering impactful results.</li><li>Strong problem-solving and strategic technical decision-making skills.</li><li>Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.</li></ul>Education:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience</li><li>Master’s degree preferred</li></ul>This job description provides a high-level review of the types of work performed.
