We are looking for an Associate Director, Product Design - Design Systems &amp; Content Design to lead our Platform design teams, based in either our Boston, MA or Bellevue, WA offices. You will guide the creation of a consistent and accessible design system that reflects the Chewy brand, while setting the bar for clear, compelling content in a writing-forward culture. You will work closely with partners across brand, merchandising, and site experience teams to deliver a dynamic, ever-evolving platform that delights millions of pet parents. What You’ll Do: Product &amp; Design Strategy <ul> <li>Transform customer and business objectives into compelling, purposeful, and feasible products.</li> <li>Lead innovative, systems-level thinking across a range of products, platforms, and devices.</li> <li>Champion cohesion and consistency across a growing portfolio of products, while encouraging a culture of innovation.</li> </ul> Execution &amp; Delivery <ul> <li>Lead full design process - from discovery and ideation to flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes.</li> <li>Maintain a bias for action and prioritize across multiple initiatives.</li> </ul> Team Leadership &amp; Growth <ul> <li>Lead and develop a high-performing design team, ensuring they are engaged, effective, and continuously growing.</li> <li>Champion Chewy’s culture and principles, setting new standards for operational and executional excellence.</li> </ul> Cross-Functional Collaboration <ul> <li>Partner closely with product managers, developers, content strategists, user researchers, and fellow designers.</li> <li>Clearly articulate and present design thinking, process, and decisions to a wide range of Team Members, including senior leadership and C-suite executives.</li> </ul> What Youll Need: Design Experience &amp; Expertise <ul> <li>7+ years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar role.</li> <li>Advanced proficiency in core design, including interaction design, information architecture, and user interface design.</li> <li>Consistently crafting high-quality digital products that deliver measurable results, supported by a strong portfolio or case studies.</li> </ul> Leadership &amp; Team Management <ul> <li>4+ years of experience managing multidisciplinary teams, including researchers, content strategists, and product designers.</li> <li>Ability to evaluate both customer and business impact of design decisions across product areas.</li> <li>Ability to lead large scale initiatives involving multiple Team Members groups</li> </ul> Communication &amp; Collaboration <ul> <li>Strong communication, presentation, and social skills.</li> <li>Ability to clearly articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences and Team Members at all levels.</li> </ul> Education &amp; Work Environment <ul> <li>Bachelors degree in design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field—or equivalent professional experience in the design industry.</li> <li>Ability to travel quarterly as needed; role requires regular presence in a local office.</li> </ul> Preferred Qualifications: Leadership &amp; Team Management <ul> <li>Experience leading teams of 10+ including leading other managers.</li> </ul> Content Design &amp; Systems Thinking <ul> <li>Background in content design or design systems, with a track record of developing standards adopted across an organization.</li> <li>Experience building and supporting design frameworks through clear guidance and team enablement.</li> </ul> Industry Experience <ul> <li>Background in e-commerce, retail brands, or merchandising environments, with an understanding of customer behavior and business goals in those contexts.</li> </ul> Work Arrangement: <ul> <li>Hybrid Model: 3 days in hub location per week</li> <li>Remote: This role is NOT a remote role.</li> </ul><div><div><div>The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.
