Role Overview:

The IT Sr. Systems Administrator is an exciting role at one of the leading cutting-edge technology startups in the world, supporting both Chaos Products and IT infrastructure. This person will build and manage the IT solutions that will play a large role in contributing to Chaos Industries advanced technology development including one of the most advanced sensor technologies in the world, Coherence. Near-term, this is a very hands-on position with a heavy emphasis on the implementation of IT solutions. This person will also be the focal point to implement our IT strategy, road map, and architecture of our IT systems and support products for the company. This person will be working with IT/compliance consultants, as appropriate. This is an on-site position in Hawthorne, CA, as this person will work closely with engineering.

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage and monitor Azure services and infrastructure.
  •  Implement, manage, and maintain Azure compute, storage, network, and security services.
  •  Ensure availability, performance, security, and scalability of Azure infrastructure.
  •  Monitor and analyze resource utilization and consumption.
  •  Implement and oversee Azure governance, including policies, compliance, and security controls.
  •  Automate tasks and processes related to Azure management using PowerShell, Azure CLI, or other scripting languages.
  •  Collaborate with IT teams to integrate Azure services with on-premises environments.
  •  Assist with the design and deployment of disaster recovery and high availability strategies.
  •  Provide technical support and guidance on Azure-related issues to IT teams and end-users.
  •  Stay current with Azure updates, features, and best practices, and recommend improvements to existing services.
  • Work full-time onsite out of our office in Los Angeles (Hawthorne), California. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience or 5 - 10 major projects in professional, IT administration, this person will be implementing major IT projects.
  • Experience with planning and implementing IT infrastructure that meets DFARS government compliance standards, (e.g. ability to handle controlled unclassified information, CUI) all with the goal of enabling the foremost government-backed advanced research and development.
  • Experience designing, deploying, and managing IT architectures including multiple different networks with different access requirements and standards, e.g. IT solutions for both government and commercial use cases.
  • Experience with integrating on-premises, cloud, and hybrid technology including identity management, MFA, servers, routers, networks, and switches.
  • OS deployment, management, and administration of servers, workstations, and laptops in Windows and Linux (e.g. RHEL/Ubuntu) environments, both on-site and remote
  • Scripting and development experience to automate IT processes (e.g. Ansible, Python)
  • STIGs compliance incl OS Hardening
  • Understanding and knowledge of Windows Server internals or Linux fundamentals to include DNS, DHCP, AD, and server replication methods.
  • Working as a team member in a fast-paced technological environment.  Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of a moderate to high scope and complexity to include the integration of hardware and operating systems (OS).
  • Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements and provide documentation and training on advanced IT processes and procedures and other tasks as assigned.

Preferred Requirements:

  • FEDRAMP-compliant cloud work (e.g. Microsoft GCC High, Amazon Gov Cloud, etc)
  • FEDRAMP-compliant services (e.g. ZoomGov, GovSlack, zscaler, etc.)
  • 5+ years of strong PowerShell automation and advanced active directory experience desired.
  • Experience automating Linux Configuration utilizing Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
  • Containerization technologies (e.g. Docker, Artifactory)
  • DevSecOps experience
  • Experience with git
  • Experience standing up air-gapped classified IT computing environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate on small teams

Salary Range: $140,000 - $200,000

The stated compensation range reflects only the targeted base compensation range and excludes additional earnings such as bonus, equity, and benefits.
