Senior Software Engineer – Payment Pillar

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of healthcare payments by leading with deep hands-on technical expertise, driving solutions independently from concept to deployment, and:

  • Leading the design and implementation of new full-stack features from end to end, driving significant, measurable impact on key business metrics and patient experience.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with product, design, and data teams to enhance our platform, clearly articulating technical designs, trade-offs, and the why behind solutions.
  • Building and improving our core checkout experience, payment integrations (Stripe), and differentiated payment experiences like HBA/HSA support, and third-party financing.
  • Enhancing the user experience, making it easier for patients to save cards, set up autopay, and manage payment plans—core functionalities that set Cedar apart.
  • Championing engineering excellence and team growth by actively mentoring peer engineers to do their best work, fostering high standards for code quality, thorough testing, effective technical debt management, performance optimizations, and reliability improvements.

What We Look For

  • Strong technical leadership with a track record of driving measurable, senior-level impact across the stack, influencing product direction, system architecture, and team outcomes. (8+ years of experience preferred, but not required).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in independent, hands-on coding and problem-solving, including handling complex edge cases, optimizing for efficiency, and delivering robust solutions within time constraints.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex technical ideas clearly, concisely, and with compelling examples, as well as asking insightful clarifying questions.
  • A strong commitment to engineering best practices, including writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, and a proactive approach to managing technical debt.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset – You thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and love solving complex problems.
  • Experience with modern languages and frameworks – React, Typescript, Python/Django or similar

Compensation Range and Benefits:

  • Salary/Hourly Rate Range*: $195,500 - $230,000
  • This role is equity eligible
