Job Description

The Qualification Test and Lab Technician contributes directly to the success of the Butterfly probe by performing tests of the probe and its components, software tests, and reliability tests, and maintaining the lab and equipment where testing is performed.

In this role, you will be responsible for executing reliability and Verification and Validation (V&V) tests, building and deploying test fixtures and procedures, assisting engineers in R&D experiments, and creating test protocols and reports.  You will also be responsible for fixture building, assembly and repair of systems and subsystems, maintenance of  the lab space, and managing the  equipment calibrations and preventative maintenance process. 

As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be: 

  • Creating and updating test plans and procedures in preparation for V&V efforts
  • Coordinate outside vendors to perform testing that cannot be performed internally
  • Design, setup, debug, and execute reliability and V&V tests
  • Report results and update testing status to each group for which you perform testing
  • Coordinate calibration of lab equipment
  • Support the Test Engineering group with hardware assembly, upgrades, inventory, and testing.
  • Manage the material levels for commonly used lab equipment, and order, receive, and organize materials when necessary.
  • Manage the inventory of R&D hardware, materials, and prototypes. This includes creating and maintaining a system for storing, retrieving, and tracking inventory to support onsite, hybrid, and remote team members.
  • Packing up and shipping out items as requested by the team, and receiving and organizing items when they are delivered to the facility.
  • Perform a broad variety of tasks in support of the role and responsibilities

Qualifications

Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field
  • Experience setting up lab equipment and performing hands-on tasks
  • Hands-on experience with electronic and mechanical test equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, hydrophones, force gauges, etc.
  • Experience operating custom software tools in Linux environments using Python.  Detail-oriented and conscientious about independently completing tasks on time and reporting results and status updates
  • Native Chinese speaker
  • Fluent technical communication in English
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Self-driven, organized, and detail oriented
  • Ability to learn new technical skills quickly with an appropriate amount of training
  • Experience with basic office software tools such as Microsoft Office or Google Sheets, Docs, etc.

Ideally, you also have these skills/experiences/attributes (but it’s ok if you don’t!):

  • Familiar and comfortable with working with power tools and machining equipment
  • Knowledgeable with iOS & Android devices, and Linux operating systems
  • Skilled in soldering and PCBA rework (or willing to learn)
  • Familiar with coding and associated infrastructure and tools
  • Experience writing and executing test plans and reports for complex hardware/software applications
  • Experience on reliability test methodologies such as HALT or HAST
  • Experience with environmental and dynamics testing (Temperature, Humidity, Vibration)
  • Experience with electrical safety testing (EMI, EMC, etc)

This is an in-office position and will be based out of our office in Taiwan. Our offices are designed for collaboration, with comfortable workspaces, stocked kitchens, and opportunities to connect with peers.
