As part of BP, a global industry leader, we foster a high-energy, high-intensity environment built on accountability, collegiality, and empowerment.Role Synopsis:The Investigation and Learning Advisor will be a hybrid role, leading investigations and co-creating learning content for the broader bpx organization.  As an investigator, you will identify root causes following incidents to deliver high-quality corrective actions that impact organizational learning.The ideal candidate will lead investigations across all aspects of the business and operations. Additionally, the Investigation and Learning Advisor will collaborate closely with bpx central and business unit staff to build and share relevant learnings from completed investigations, incident trends, and reporting trends.  Strong interpersonal skills are required to prioritize multiple internal and external stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. The Investigation and Learning Advisor must be a problem solver who works on multiple activities with constantly evolving demands and targets.  Continuous improvement is a priority, and the Investigation and Learning Advisor collaborates with the team to think critically and impact bpx as a whole.Key Accountabilities: <ul><li>Responsible for conducting in-depth investigations into employee injuries, safety/operational events, and reports of general safety issues.</li><li>Investigations will include but are not limited to traveling to the incident scene, conducting human factors-focused interviews, analyzing data, developing recommendations, reporting findings to senior leaders, and writing detailed technical reports.</li><li>Assist in the implementation of the investigation training process within bpx energy.</li><li>Enforce the bpx Incident Reporting and Investigation Policy, the bpx Investigation Standard Operating Procedure, and the bpx Organizational Learning Standard Operating Procedure.</li><li>Provide investigative support to field investigators throughout bpx energy.</li><li>Enter and track the progress of corrective actions, which includes assuring corrective actions relating to investigations are completed in a timely and successful manner.</li><li>Confirm reporting and archiving of investigations records align with BP Group requirements.</li><li>Identify emerging risks from bpx investigations to ensure risk mitigation is occurring in all relevant areas of bpx energy.</li><li>Develop learning summary documents for non-safety-related learnings across the organization.</li><li>Work with the Senior Learning Advisor to ensure incident-related learnings are embedded in bpx energy and shared with BP Group, as necessary.</li><li>Responsible for the development of Organizational Learning materials, such as Flash Call presentations, learning advisories, Safety Action Messages, etc.; and delivery of Monthly Learnings within bpx’s business units.</li><li>Drive continuous improvement of incident investigation and organizational learning processes, training, and supporting tools within bpx energy.</li></ul>Crucial Education:<ul><li>Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or sciences or 5 years of oil and gas experience.</li></ul>Crucial Experience and Job Requirements:<ul><li>Experience in incident investigations or organizational learning, preferably in the oil and gas industry</li><li>Ability to be flexible and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>Must possess critical thinking skills to develop sound analytical conclusions.</li><li>Ability to influence and lead people, including those outside of own team.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills to work optimally with all levels of leadership, professional staff, and field employees.</li><li>Good presentation and written communication skills which include: the ability to share information to a wide range of professional staff with varying degrees of technical expertise, promotes closure of gaps and delivers information in a clear and concise manner, and facilitates good decision making is required.</li></ul>Travel Requirements:<ul><li>Travel is required for this role.  We estimate travel will be 25% on average, but may exceed or fall below that estimate, based on business needs.</li></ul>Salary and BenefitsWe offer a reward and wellbeing package to enable your work to fit with your life.
