The Opportunity:

Are you looking for an opportunity to share your experience in threat detection, implementing enterprise-scale security monitoring, and identifying data-driven solutions to help protect the nation’s public health infrastructure? We need your experience to lead the development and implementation of Splunk-based security solutions that will strengthen national disease surveillance, protect critical public health systems, and enable faster response to health threats across the country. 

On our team, you’ll troubleshoot and analyze complex challenges for customers using your knowledge of enterprise monitoring tools, network infrastructure, and security applications. You’ll use your curiosity for technology and market trends to further research and develop scalable cybersecurity solutions. 

In this role, you’ll closely impact federal public health systems by enabling faster threat detection, improved data visibility, and resilient infrastructure monitoring to support our client’s mission to protect public health and respond to emerging health crises. With mentoring, challenging hands-on problem-solving, and opportunities to learn new tools and skills, we focus on growing as a team to make the best solutions for our customers. This position is located in Atlanta, GA.

What You’ll Work On: 

  • Develop relationships quickly and easily with other teams, communicating the complexities of security with a wide variety of audiences, including senior management.  
  • Implement infrastructure and cybersecurity controls, including enhanced detection and vulnerability capabilities and improved event correlation in large enterprises.   
  • Develop Splunk applications for continuous monitoring, reporting, and analytics.

You Have:  

  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity or network security engineering roles 
  • Experience with log ingestion, correlation rule development, dashboards, and alert tuning in Splunk 
  • Experience creating dashboards and reports in Splunk  
  • Experience working in Agile or iterative development environments 
  • Experience performing threat detection, log analysis, and SIEM integration 
  • Experience with REST APIs and Splunk SDKs 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements 
  • Bachelor’s degree

Nice If You Have:  

  • Experience supporting federal or public health agencies such as the CDC, HHS, or NIH, or in a government contracting environment 
  • Experience with government cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, FISMA, or MITRE ATT&CK
  • Experience integrating Splunk with third-party tools 
  • Experience with Python or JavaScript for automation and service integration 
  • Knowledge of network protocols, firewalls, proxies, and security architecture 
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, incident response, and vulnerability management 
  • Knowledge of the Common Information Model (CIM) 
  • Knowledge of Palantir Foundry 
  • Splunk Certifications such as Splunk Core Certified Power User or Developer Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $77,500.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
