We will also consider exceptional graduate candidates with strong technical skills and experience. The position will be based in Shanghai and report to the Head of Quant &amp; MASS at China FMC.This role is expected to produce investment research according to business needs, covering macro economics and quantitative signal research across asset classes (tilt towards equities). The role also provides daily support to portfolio managers regarding performance attribution, risk analytics as well as ad-hoc issuer-level due diligence.Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Produce new quantitative investment signals, initially focusing on equities (sector/factor/issuer scoring) , later can progress to other asset classes and cross-asset-class. Write research reports on the signals and models. Automate the signal generation in order to be used in live-money products, after passing through a rigorous research approval process.</li></ul><ul><li>Follow the markets, macro and policy on a daily basis and conduct market and macroeconomic research across all asset classes. Automate data collection/analytics generation to produce regular reports.</li></ul><ul><li>Work with RQA and IT teams to understand the risk analytics infrastructure, help to automate risk decomposition, performance attribution and facilitate database building.</li></ul><ul><li>Produce ad-hoc due diligence reports on issuers to maintain security pools – leveraging quantitative insights as well as discretionary judgements on the issuers’ fundamentals.</li></ul><ul><li>Report to the head of Quant &amp; MASS team directly while collaborating with team members, as well as other relevant teams (investments, trading, RQA, ops, tech, L&amp;C etc.) both locally and across the globe. Ability to independently carry out product-driven research projects from a researcher perspective, under supervision of senior team members - which involves and not limited to, producing new quantitative signals and writing research paperwork on the signals and models.</li></ul>Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:<ul><li>Investment Research - past experience in quantitative research or portfolio management across multiple asset classes, minimum 1 year of research experience in a reputable institution. Past experience in quantitative equity strategies is preferred. If the past experience is in single asset class and not quantitatively, then bond research experience would be of advantage. Global markets experience would be a plus. Experience related to model-based quantitative strategies would be a plus.</li></ul><ul><li>Ability to generate quantitative signal ideas and conduct meaningful signal/model research. Ability to communicate clearly with global teams during the discussions. Ability to synthesize own work into research papers. Past experience of implementing quant signals from research methodology papers (can be academic papers) preferred.</li></ul><ul><li>Self-driven and hard-working, ability to drive multiple work streams from start to finish, while prioritizing critical business needs. Remain focused amid stressful market periods and despite working long hours.</li></ul><ul><li>Strong Python coding skill and experience essential. Advanced academic degrees preferred but not necessary.
