The Role As a Sr Software Engineer in our Engineering department, you will collaborate with our Engineering and Technical Support teams. We are looking for a passionate and motivated Engineer who enjoys the challenge of solving tough problems in a dynamic environment. This individual thrives at problem-solving, getting to the root cause within a software or the environment in which it runs, and is motivated by doing what is right for our products and our customers.  What You’ll Do <ul> <li>This is mostly a Backend/Server-side Engineering role requiring strong experience with Python, Linux, and AWS. </li> <li>Mentor, train, or coach lower level Engineers. </li> <li>Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code for complex client/server enterprise applications.</li> <li>Translate application storyboards and use cases into functional applications.</li> <li>Collaborate with other team members, teams, and stakeholders on feature design and product direction.</li> <li>Work with Quality Assurance personnel in creating all test cases and documentation for the assigned projects/tasks.</li> <li>Communicate problems, risks, or issues with peers and managers.</li> <li>Provide thorough documentation for all development work.</li> <li>Some interaction with technical support and possibly customers in trouble-shooting issues and resolving the respective issues may be required.</li> <li>Scope assigned project/tasks and provide accurate time estimates.</li> <li>Work directly with the Engineering and Support departments to investigate, troubleshoot and triage complex, code-related technical issues, gather product feedback, implement code fixes and build patches.</li> </ul> What You’ll Bring <ul> <li>Solid understanding of modern design patterns.</li> <li>Experience with full lifecycle of development, including product release in an agile environment.</li> <li>Comfortable working in monolithic repos and large code bases. </li> <li>Good understanding of network security and encryption.</li> <li>Solid English written and verbal communication, presentation, and people skills.</li> <li>Experience working on an Agile team in a continuous integration and development environment. </li> <li>3 to 5 years of software development experience.</li> <li>Proficient with the entire Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).</li> <li>Extensive knowledge working in Unix/Linux environments.</li> <li>Experience with Python, PHP would be a plus.</li> <li>Ability to give and receive peer review.</li> <li>Unit testing.</li> <li>Experience using Agile methodologies.</li> </ul> Nice To Have <ul> <li>Experience building/debugging Linux kernel.</li> <li>Strong focus on secure coding and security best practices (TLS, cryptography, etc.).</li> <li>Experience developing applications that run at scale.</li> </ul> Who You Are <ul> <li>You are a team player, eager and open to sharing successes and failures.</li> <li>You are a passionate and motivated learner, always looking for an opportunity to learn and grow.</li> <li>You are optimistic and positive and have a great sense of humor.</li> <li>You are flexible and can adapt to shifting situations and requirements.</li> <li>You try to inspire the best in others and always try to deliver the same.</li> <li>You give and take feedback graciously.</li> </ul> Better Together Diversity.
