This is a major step forward, as these capabilities are among the most often requested by our customers, and they align with Benchling’s work on antibodies and other modalities as well as development. The chemistry team will build from our existing support for molecules toward a full chemistry solution, integrated with our notebook and our core registry product. Benchling’s  customers interact with our products daily, and they trust them with their most important assets. Chemistry is a full-stack team on a mission to accelerate science by creating powerful, intuitive tools that support a broad range of scientific workflows. We obsess over quality and data integrity.</p> <p>Were looking for an experienced manager to support the engineers on our Chemistry team within the Scientific Modalities group. Were particularly excited to hear from managers with a track record of obsessing over customer needs and product quality as they build their roadmaps and guide their teams execution.</p> <h2><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></h2> <ul> <li>Recruit, develop, and lead a team of exceptional engineers.</li> <li>Partner closely with product and design to define roadmap and long-term product strategy.</li> <li>Hold an unreasonable high bar for product quality as the teams execute their work.</li> <li>Partner closely with engineers on each team to ensure that we make excellent technical decisions as we lay the foundations for these new products.</li> <li>Meet with customers to understand their science &amp; what they need from Benchling.</li> <li>Contribute to engineering-wide organizational improvements as part of the management team.</li> </ul> <h2><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong></h2> <ul> <li>3+ years of experience managing high-performing engineering teams.</li> <li>5+ years of experience as a software engineer, with experience as a technical lead on projects that involve multiple engineers across multiple quarters</li> <li>Managed engineering teams that were responsible for a customer-focused product.</li> <li>Managed geographically distributed teams.</li> <li>Grown high-trajectory, early-to-mid-career engineers into leaders with company-wide impact.</li> <li>Experience (and enjoy!) working directly with customers, product, design and other internal teams and stakeholders to inform your teams roadmap.</li> <li>Interest in biotech!</li> </ul> <h2>HOW WE WORK</h2> <p>We offer a flexible hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes in-office collaboration. Employees are expected to be on-site 3 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday).</p> <h2>SALARY RANGE</h2> <p>Benchling takes a market-based approach to pay.  The candidates starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, interview performance, and work location.
