Senior Director of Pull-Through Strategy
The Senior Director of Pull-Through Strategy is responsible for developing, leading, and executing push and pull through efforts for priority brands, ensuring appropriate direction and coordination are provided to drive product performance with emphasis on retail launch brands, accelerate launch curves, support optimal product coverage and achieve gross-to-net (GTN) expectations.
This position will work closely with Portfolio Strategy, and in synergy with leadership of other functional teams such as Access Analytics, National and Regional Account Management, Field Sales, Brand Marketing and Strategy Leads, GTN, Patient Services, Learning & Development and others to ensure Market Access Pull-Through strategies are customer centric and aligned with overall brand objectives. This leader will also collaborate closely with and serve on the Account Management Leadership Team (AMLT), and all relevant mission/design teams. This individual in alignment with key stakeholders will create a yearly national pull and push through strategy across target brands. They will establish 90-day outcomes, with metrics aligned to Customer Engagement and Market Access desired metrics. They will focus on local-regional opportunities for design with Dir of Regional Payer Accounts (DRPAs) for field execution with Area General Managers (AGMs) and Market Access Champions (MACs).
The person successful in this role will provide exceptional leadership in development of Market Access Pull/Push-Through strategies and continue to develop these competencies for priority and new launch priority brands. This candidate must have excellent communication, stakeholder management, data analytic, and project management skills. They will excel in a collaborative, cross functional team environment and must demonstrate leadership, ability to hold teams accountable and possess a strong passion for building excellence in Managed Markets Pull-Through.
This position will be required to travel to our Whippany, NJ Corporate Office at least 25% of the time. Prefer Candidates that live in Eastern Time Zone.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Director of Pull-Through Strategy, are to:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all areas of the business in priority brands assigned regarding Pull/Push Through activities;
- Collaborate with Market Access Portfolio Strategy, Market Access Account Team Leadership (HP/PBM, System, Distribution), Brand, and Field Sales Leadership, up to and including VP level, to ensure alignment, integration, and execution of the Bayer Market Access Push & Pull-Through Framework to maximize HP/PBM Pull Through opportunities;
- Special emphasis on consistent utilization of DRPAs as conduit to field sales action, and opportunity Assessment;
- The individual in conjunction with the DRPA and with the AGM aligned will leverage the MAC for upskilling/coordination of insights and action driven plans local-regionally;
- Partner with Market Access Insights & Analytics and Gross to Net to identify potential opportunities for Push/Pull-Through;
- Work closely with (CE) Sales Learning & Development (L&D) to design and implement appropriate Market Access and Push/Pull Through educational programs;
- Collaborate with Business Insights Team to design and implement appropriate data capture methods and tools, to help market access and field account teams assess opportunities and monitor performance;
- Partner with Patient Support Services (PSS) leaders to design and implement appropriate tools to help teams monitor trends and utilization of patient support services and utilization management (ie: prior authorization submissions & approvals);
- Partner with National and Regional Account Team to identify, prioritize and align on must-win payers/PBMs for push/pull-through strategies set for quarterly/annual performance objectives that maximize paid NBRx rates or improve/sustain coverage positions. Work collaboratively to engage Field Sales for consistent execution against these plans and monitor performance vs. objectives;
- Provide recommendations for appropriate annual performance objectives for Push/Pull Through plans to assess ongoing impact of national and regional Push/Pull Through campaigns, with retro feedback to key stakeholders;
- Collaborates with Portfolio Strategy and other field sales/marketing leaders on the development of pull-through promotional tools and programs that align with the brands promotional strategy;
- Develops appropriate reporting and regularly communicates ongoing progress of Payer Pull-Through performance, changing market dynamics, competitive landscape and field sales insights;
- Conduct a comprehensive retrospective review every 90 days to evaluate progress towards goals and assess changes in the project landscape. Use findings to adjust plans, ensuring that established outcomes are successfully achieved
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree;
- Business experience in pharmaceutical and/or health care; or Access and Coverage Manager experience including experience with the development and implementation of market access pull-through strategies and/or Brand level market access experience;
- Strong project management skills;
- Strong data analytics and reporting skills;
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills;
- Demonstrated leadership skills;
- Self-directed in ambiguous situations; Good decision-making skills;
- Remote role:
- Field travel required;
- home office presence required minimum of 25% of time.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of business experience in pharmaceutical and/or health care; preferably Sales Management or Market Access Account Management, Field Reimbursement Manager, or Access and Coverage Manager including experience with the development and implementation of market access pull-through strategies and/or Brand level market access experience;
- MBA in preferred;
- Demonstrated Success in First Line management and product launch experience;
- Proven business acumen, including strong analytical skills, interpretation, and business problem solving;
- Prior home office experience;
- Health Plan/PBM Account Director experience- understands market access landscape;
- Field Reimbursement Manager/Access and Coverage Manager experience;
- Prior marketing experience;
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with leadership, including the ability to influence without authority;
- Experience in developing strategy and implementing promotional programs;
- Comprehensive understanding of regulatory guidelines.
Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $215,851 to $323,776. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
