Our depth and breadth of expertise enables us to tackle the most technically complex and time-sensitive projects—driving innovation, resilience, and real-world impact where it matters most.How will you contribute to the team?<ul><li>Will be the single point accountability for design and engineering of new commercial nuclear fuel cycle projects, on time and on schedule.</li><li>Projects may include design and engineering and/or owners engineer responsibilities for small modular reactor integration projects, nuclear fuel cycle facilities, etc.</li><li>Responsible for managing a diverse design and engineering team dedicated to specific newbuild projects the company embarks on within the U.S.</li><li>Serves as the principal technical authority on nuclear fuel cycle considerations for nuclear fuel cycle facility site design and integration.</li><li>Leads multi-disciplinary engineering teams (nuclear, chemical, mechanical, civil, I&amp;C, and safety) to ensure robust, integrated design solutions.</li><li>Oversees development of technical baselines, system requirements, and interface control documents for nuclear fuel cycle-related systems.</li><li>Provides direct technical input into conceptual, preliminary, and detailed engineering deliverables. Ensures review and approval procedures for engineering analyses, calculations, and design documents for accuracy, compliance, and constructability are adhered to.</li><li>Leads assessments of front-end fuel cycle needs (uranium enrichment, fabrication, supply chain logistics).</li><li>Guides back-end fuel cycle design and planning (used fuel handling, interim storage, waste disposition, and transportation).</li><li>Integrates safeguards-by-design principles (NRC/DOE) into facility layout and systems.</li><li>Provides oversight for conducting criticality safety evaluations, radiological consequence analyses, and material accountability studies.</li><li>Ensures all fuel cycle-related activities align with U.S. regulatory frameworks, nonproliferation commitments, and appropriate standards.</li><li>Provides technical oversight of site-specific engineering studies (geotechnical, hydrological, seismic, and environmental).</li><li>Defines system requirements and interfaces between nuclear island, balance-of-plant, and site infrastructure.</li><li>Collaborates with EPC partners and SMR technology vendors to resolve technical integration challenges.</li><li>Oversees preparation and review of technical input for licensing documents (e.g., FSAR, SAR, NEPA documentation, criticality safety evaluations).</li><li>Ensures designs comply with NRC and ASME/ANS standards, as well as NQA-1 quality.</li><li>Incorporates nuclear safety culture and conduct of engineering principles into daily work. Interfaces with regulators and technical reviewers to address technical questions and resolve licensing issues, as requested.</li><li>Troubleshoots complex engineering and fuel cycle problems, providing innovative, technically sound solutions.</li><li>Mentors junior engineers and provide specialized training on nuclear fuel cycle systems and SMR integration. Stays abreast of emerging nuclear technologies, advanced fuels (HALEU, TRISO, MOX), and international best practices.</li><li>Represents the organization in technical forums, working groups, and professional societies. Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul>What will you contribute?<ul><li>Bachelors degree required in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, civil/structural engineering, chemical engineering, or related discipline.</li><li>15+ years in nuclear fuel cycle technical work. </li><li>At least 10 years in technical leadership roles.</li><li>Deep understanding of the nuclear fuel cycle (front-end supply chain, enrichment / fabrication,). Deep understanding of criticality safety analysis, radiation shielding, material control &amp; accountability, and safeguards.</li><li>Familiarity with NRC and international regulatory requirements for nuclear facilities. </li><li>Experience with NQA-1 QA programs, licensing, and nuclear safety culture.</li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills.</li><li>Strong interpersonal skills are very important, both within the internal AtkinsRealis team and interfacing with customers.</li><li>Strong problem-solving skills. Advanced presentation skills.</li><li>Intermediate knowledge of the use of Microsoft Office products and project controls-specific software.</li><li>Expertise with design and integration of nuclear fuel cycle systems preferred. Master’s degree in nuclear engineering or a closely related technical field preferred.</li><li>DOE/NQA-1 Quality Assurance &amp; Nuclear Safety Training.
