JOB TITLE: Lead System Engineering

REMOTE TYPE: Office Worker*

JOB LOCATION: 208 S. Akard Street, Dallas, TX 75202 [and various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.; may work from home]

           

DUTIES: Perform Software Release Management within high tech industry and manage all aspects of a successful release throughout its life cycle. Communicate organization information through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, and other appropriate communication channels. Create Release Playbook, deployment and rollback plans as per release schedule and align with other Release Management teams. Maintain and enforce quality and service standards, analyze and resolve issues, identify trends, and recommend improvements. Release software, applications, database and infrastructures changes developed by multiple Scrum/Agile teams in Agile framework. Establish change and release management strategies and drive through to execution by working closely with different stakeholder groups within the organization on various types and lifecycle of changes. Plan, coordinate and manage all aspects of the end-to-end release process. Develop the release schedule and coordinate/share with key stakeholders. Ensure releases are deployed successfully and manage rollback procedures as required. Plan the release of applications and release life cycle in Agile framework. Provide support to Sales, Services, Back Office Management and Infrastructures. Plan and approve infrastructures changes scheduled for production deployments. Create implementation and deployment plans for major release/maintenance windows/hotfixes. Perform digital transformation of Release Notes to Jira and setting roadmaps. Maintain and keep release process and procedures documents up-to date for build, test, release, deployment and compliance. Improve process and methodologies used for development, deployment, automation, delivery, and configuration management. Utilize Agile/Scrum framework to develop rapid release/deployment with automation tools. Conduct weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting of release activities and metrices to senior leadership. Develop release contingency plans. Work with Scrum/Development team to manage defect backlog for planned release. Participate in Process Management, Change Management, Release and Deployments. Plan/document risks to release and implement mitigation plans to reduce customer impacts, minimize release delay and improve customer experience. Conduct resource planning for release scope items: defects, stories, infrastructure and third party applications. Monitor and control release scope items with automation tools. Document release builds, test cases, performance testing results and SRE alerting requirements. Develop backout/rollback plan post-release to resolve production defects. Participate in Call to Work, Production issues with Application Support team to resolve post Release issues. Host release retrospective meetings to improve Release Management processes and apply best practices. Improve processes for deployments, configuration management, features rollout and hotfixes. Convert consumer insights and performance data into high impact product initiatives. Work with Development, IT Ops, Systems, Site Reliability Engineering, Product Owners/Managers and Technical Business Analysts. Notify Portfolio and/or Project Managers in the development, integration of microservices/applications, and production deployments. Work with Development/Ops team to make sure monitoring and alerting are setup on-premises and cloud. Work with Project Managers and Product Owners for solution demonstration. Coordinate with Delivery Leads, Solution and Enterprise Architects to implement technical enablers and applications/microservices.

REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent degree, in Computer Science or Computer Engineering and five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in a related occupation performing Software Release Management within high tech industry and managing all aspects of a successful release throughout its life cycle; releasing software, applications, database and infrastructures changes developed by multiple Scrum/Agile teams in Agile framework; planning, coordinating and managing all aspects of the end-to-end release process; planning the release of applications and release life cycle in Agile framework; utilizing Agile/Scrum framework to develop rapid release/deployment with automation tools; developing release contingency plans; and documenting release builds, test cases, performance testing results and SRE alerting requirements.
