Global Commercial Head, Immunology Cell TherapyLocation:  BostonWhat is the opportunity?Cell therapy has the potential to change the treatment paradigm of autoimmune disease, offering a new modality that may provide deep and durable response in difficult to treat, chronic diseases. AstraZeneca is establishing a portfolio of cell therapy options to address multiple autoimmune and neurology diseases, in collaboration with the oncology and rare disease business units.The Global Commercial Head of Cell Therapy reports directly to the Global Vice President, Strategy and Early Commercial for Respiratory and Immunology and will be expected to have a high level of collaboration with global functions (e.g. R&amp;D, Business Insight / Analytics, Finance, Medical Affairs, Pricing &amp; Market Access) and our local Marketing Companies, in particular in the US. Close collaboration with our global oncology and rare disease business units will also be key to success.In this role, you will be accountable to evolve the global commercial strategy for immunology cell therapy, developing critical insights to drive our approach and defining the go-to-market model. You will collaborate closely with the US leadership team as well as the Global Immunology Cell Therapy Commercial and R&amp;D colleagues to ensure fit-for-purpose solutions are proposed, that serve both the enterprise and the US marketing company. Ability to inform, influence and engage senior stakeholders within the AstraZeneca US business is critical for this roleThe successful candidate must be a very strong matrix leader, good communicator and well-rounded global commercial leader, with a specific appetite for cross functional collaboration and entering yet-to-be established commercial markets. Clear strategic thinking with the ability to lead and demonstrate passion for the brands and future technology is required, given the desire of AZ to be a future leader in cell therapy across multiple diseases and settings.Key Duties and Responsibilities:<ul><li>Lead commercial strategy for the clinical stage cell therapy asset, collaborating with R&amp;D to ensure robust and compelling positioning and competitive differentiation</li><li>Lead development of immunology go-to-market strategy, including overall customer engagement model including collaboration across business units, role definitions and resource requirements</li><li>Work with regions and key markets, in particular the US, to ensure consistent execution of the strategy, launch readiness and market and customer understanding</li><li>Input commercial component of strategic options and strategies to support investment decisions for future opportunities for the AZ cell therapy franchise (both LCM and new assets/technologies)</li><li>Work with external key disease experts. Represent the view of the customer and patient in global teams</li><li>Lead and deliver the financial planning cycle for LTP including brand budget needs and revenue projections</li><li>Represent the commercial view in cross-functional fora to inform the strategic decisions for the products in line with longer term commercial objectives, relevance for patients, customers and markets</li></ul>Skills &amp; Capabilities<ul><li>Commercial experience with successful execution and delivery</li><li>Strong strategic thinking and financial acumen</li><li>Swift corporate compass to navigate R&amp;D and commercial organisations and governance bodies (ESPC, LSPC),</li><li>Sound decision making, and problem solving</li><li>Proven ability to collaborate across functional boundaries</li><li>Demonstrated ability to translate ideas to action</li><li>Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills (written and verbal) required</li><li>Ability to operate in an ambiguous setting to develop compelling commercial opportunities where a new market needs to be established</li><li>Strong scientific and clinical development acumen to both work with and challenge R&amp;D</li></ul>Requirements / Qualifications:Education:<ul><li>Business, Medical or Life sciences degree</li></ul>Experience:<ul><li>Experience in cell therapy commercialisation (local or global)</li><li>Experience in immunology or specialty care chronic disease</li><li>10+ years in the pharmaceutical sector including local US market experience</li><li>Broad commercial experience including pre-launch and launch to facilitate development of go-to-market strategy</li><li>Proven experience and knowledge of a broad base of external customers including patients, prescribers, payers and providers</li><li>Experience leveraging clinical data to shape brand strategies and lifecycle planning</li><li>Experience with revenue forecasting, budget/expense management</li><li>Evidence of developing compelling business cases</li><li>Experience working with medical, clinical professionals, scientific societies and patient advocacy groups</li><li>Experience of collaborating on a product across multiple business units and demonstrated ability to influence without authority</li></ul>Other Qualifications:<ul><li>An advanced degree (MBA, MSc or PhD) is preferred</li></ul>The annual base pay for this position ranges from $270,222 to $405,332. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles).
