The candidate will perform a variety of engineering tasks including providing inputs in designing &amp; using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools to analyze subassemblies and modules from a concept phase to a final design. Work with cross-functional teams to support the products and passionate solving complex engineering problems.    <ul><li>Perform CAD clean-up and generate meshes for complex geometries.</li><li>Develop modeling methodologies for complex problems that involve plasma-gas interaction, multi-physics, fluid flow, heat transfer, and particle tracking, and rarified gas dynamics.</li><li>Apply commercial CFD tools to perform transient and steady state analysis for flow, thermal, conjugate heat transfer including radiation, discrete phase, and plasma engineering problems.</li><li>Interpret simulation results and provide guidance to design.</li><li>Translate function specifications into required physics-based model capabilities.</li><li>Contribute, participate and define conceptual design during specification phases and ensure design qualifies &amp; work as intended in validation phases.</li><li>Identify experiments required for model validation.</li><li>Work independently and manage projects as needed.</li><li>Other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Education and Experience<ul><li>Bachelors degree in mechanical, chemical, or aeronautical engineering with a specialization in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Masters degree or PhD. preferred.</li><li>Must have 8 years of relevant experience.</li><li>Extensive experience in mesh generating using StarCCM+ and SnappyHexMesh.</li><li>Experience with commercial CFD tools, e.g., StarCCM+ or Fluent.</li><li>Experience with open source CFD tools (OpenFOAM).</li><li>Experience in performing Plasma-Gas Interaction, Conjugated Heat Transfer (CHT), Multiphysics (Lagrangian, Volume of Fluid) in rarified gas regime.</li><li>Experience working in multi-disciplinary team.</li><li>Demonstrated experience with automation of design processes including CFD pre-and post-processing. </li><li>Experience with writing user sub-routines using Java, C++ and python. </li><li>Experience with verification and validation of CFD analysis models with experimental analysis.</li><li>Demonstrated creativity in solving complex design problems.</li><li>Experienced with Siemens- Amesim desired.</li><li>Experience in working with Siemens NX desired.</li><li>Experience in PLM software – Siemens Teamcenter desired</li><li>Ability to translate, statistically analyze data, and effectively report problems through written and/or graphical formats is required.</li></ul>Skills<ul><li>Experience working in a team and have ability to mentor younger engineers and technicians.</li><li>Strong time management skills in managing multiple projects/activities in parallel.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li></ul>Other Information<ul><li>This position is located on-site in San Diego .  It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation.</li></ul><ul><li>A flexible workplace arrangement may be available to employees working in roles conducive to remote work (up to two days a week).</li><li>Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch.
