Role description: Arcadis is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineering Project Manager with experience in traffic engineering, intelligent transportation systems and traffic operations and design to join our Nashville, TN team.  Location in Middle Tennessee area required. Candidates will have the ability to work remotely or in office but will be required to attend internal and external client meetings in person as needed. This role will sit within the larger Global Mobility Business Area. We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Role accountabilities: <ul> <li>Assist our growing traffic engineering group in Tennessee in the preparation of engineering reports, studies and analyses in a wide-range of areas including traffic operations, safety, travel demand modeling and transportation planning projects.</li> <li>Work efficiently and effectively to complete tasks within the required project schedule and budget. </li> <li>Lead tasks and projects on your own and mentor younger staff. </li> <li>Conducts traffic operational analysis using microscopic simulation software such as VISSIM, Synchro, SimTraffic.</li> <li>Responsibilities also include analysis of traffic signal operation on arterials and networks, specification of applicable data collection, development of new signal timing parameters based on detailed analysis, inputting traffic signal plans via central control systems and/or directly into local controllers, and design and analysis of traffic surveys to evaluate signal timing effectiveness.</li> <li>Preparing traffic engineering plans for signal designs, signing and markings designs, and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) designs.</li> <li>Additional responsibilities will include operational analysis using microscopic simulation for intersections, corridors, and interchange traffic.</li> <li>Assisting in the developing ICM and ATM operations and maintenance policies, procedures and manuals</li> <li>Assisting in the Implementation of ICM and ATM operations and maintenance policies</li> </ul> Key Skills /Attributes: <ul> <li>Experience in one or more of the following areas: TDOT design standards, ITS design, Traffic Operations Studies, and Safety Studies.</li> <li>Basic understanding of the use of traffic analysis tools (e.g., VISSIM, CORSIM, Synchro/SimTraffic, and HCS).</li> <li>Experience/ familiarity with Microstation, Synchro, VISSIM and/or Sidra</li> <li>Basic understanding of the application of traffic operations principles including ITE, MUTCD, AASHTO, and state DOT requirements, policies, manuals and procedures.</li> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li> <li>Ability to work well in groups as well as independently.</li> <li>Traffic Signal Field Operations / Implementation Experience</li> </ul> Qualifications &amp; Experience: Required Qualifications: <ul> <li>8 or more years of transportation or traffic engineering experience post-graduation</li> <li>B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field from accredited university</li> <li>U.S. Driver’s License</li> <li>Tennessee PE </li> </ul> Preferred Qualifications: <ul> <li>Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering</li> <li>PTOE</li> <li>TDOT or local TN project experience</li> <li>Experience using Microstation, ArcGIS and Synchro/Sim Traffic</li> <li>Understanding and familiarity with MUTCD and DOT Design Guidelines and Standards (Nashville DOT and Tennessee DOT)</li> <li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint</li> <li>Transportation Design Experience with MicroStation.</li> </ul> Why Arcadis?
