(Note: For EpiSci job openings, fully remote work will be considered by exception.)</em></p></div><h2><strong>About the role</strong></h2> <p>We are looking for a passionate Research Engineer to join the Research Team at Applied Intuition. This team conducts world-class research for autonomous systems with applications to autonomous driving and general robotics. You will have access to millions of miles of large-scale data and industry-leading simulators and tools to develop cutting-edge models at scale. </p> <p>In addition to your research contributions, you will contribute to and learn from best practices in the autonomy and robotics industry within our fast-paced and customer-focused culture. Improvements deployed to our system immediately help our customers with their programs and deliver value to our business.</p> <h2><strong>At Applied Intuition, you will:</strong></h2> <ul> <li>Conduct research on topics including: robotic foundation model and vision-language-action model, reinforcement learning and real-to-sim-to-real, with applications to dexterous manipulation and grasping, and whole-body control</li> <li>Work closely with Research Scientists and interns on high-quality research publications to submit to top-tier conferences</li> <li>Set up the hardware and software of various robots (including hands, arms and humanoids) and data collection equipment, in collaboration with Research Scientists and interns</li> </ul> <h2><strong>We’re looking for someone who has:</strong></h2> <ul> <li>Hands-on experience for hardware and software for various robots, data collection equipment and teleoperation</li> <li>Passion for robotic generalist and humanoid with next-generation, scalable technology in the real world</li> <li>Strong research skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively on projects</li> </ul> <h2><strong>Nice to have:</strong></h2> <ul> <li>MSc or PhD in machine learning, computer vision, or electrical/mechanical engineering with robotics and autonomy applications or closely-related fields</li> <li>Strong research record in the fields of AI and robotics with publications in top-tier conferences or journals in the fields of computer vision, machine learning, and robotics</li> <li>Hands-on experience in at least one of the following fields: reinforcement learning, multi-modal foundation models, human and object motion capture, motion retargeting</li> </ul> <p>Compensation at Applied Intuition for eligible roles includes base salary, equity, and benefits. Base salary is a single component of the total compensation package, which may also include equity in the form of options and/or restricted stock units, comprehensive health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance coverage, 401k retirement benefits with employer match, learning and wellness stipends, and paid time off.
