About the role

We’re seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the Sensors & Rendering team within our broader Simulation team. This team builds critical software for simulating sensor data (LiDAR, radar, camera, ultrasound) and rendering high-fidelity environments for virtual testing of autonomy stacks. You’ll help shape the technical vision, scale a high-performing team, and drive execution across simulation products used by top autonomy developers in automotive and defense globally.

At Applied Intuition, you will:

  • Lead and grow a team focused on sensor simulation and real-time rendering capabilities
  • Set technical direction for accurately modeling perception sensors and their interaction with synthetic environments
  • Oversee the development of rendering pipelines that support both photorealism and real-time performance requirements
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, infrastructure teams, and field engineers to deliver impactful simulation features
  • Guide engineers through architectural decisions, code reviews, and performance optimizations
  • Contribute technically when needed—this is a hands-on leadership role
  • Foster a high-performance culture emphasizing ownership, quality, and velocity
  • Define and drive improvements to testing, deployment, and scalability for simulation features

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • 5+ years of experience in some combination of software engineering, computer graphics / rendering or sensor simulation
  • 2+ years in technical leadership or engineering management
  • Deep expertise in rendering systems (OpenGL, Vulkan, DirectX) and/or sensor modeling (camera, LiDAR, radar, etc.)
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and Python
  • Experience building real-time, performance-sensitive systems—ideally in simulation, robotics, gaming, or AV
  • Understanding of how perception systems use synthetic or real-world sensor data
  • Proven ability to deliver complex software projects end-to-end in high-stakes domains
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Nice to have:

  • Experience with game engines (Unreal Engine, Unity) or similar real-time 3D environments
  • Familiarity with sensor noise modeling, multi-sensor calibration, or synthetic data generation
  • Background in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or ADAS development
  • Experience working on simulation platforms that support perception or planning teams
