The Team:
The Industrial Power Systems (IPS) Design team has the mission to expand ADI’s current portfolio of power devices, innovating through for example addition of new smart control features, and integrated digital configurability, as well as driving next generation protection solutions for higher power systems. The IPS organization is seeking a motivated, experienced design leader to lead a mixed signal design team in Ireland. This role involves leading the architectural design and development of projects, while mentoring junior engineers.
Requirements for the position:
- Leadership & Mentoring: History of effective leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within a team and interact with other teams across the organization.
- Project Management: Manage the full device development flow, including feasibility studies, scheduling, and project management.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Abstraction skill: Utilize a top-down approach to create system-level benches to validate concepts and theories before actual implementation.
- Circuit Theory & Analog Design: Demonstrate advanced knowledge in circuit theory and analog design.
- High Voltage Analog Design: Proven experience in high voltage analog design with successful silicon implementation.
- Semiconductor Physics: Strong understanding of semiconductor devices physics and associated parasitic effects.
- Mixed Mode Systems: Manage mixed-mode (analog and digital) simulation environments using schematics, behavioural models, and Verilog/RTL.
- Design Robustness: Ensure the robustness of designs.
- Layout Supervision: Lead layout to prevent ESD/latch-up issues, minimize voltage drop in supply routing, reduce noise coupling, and satisfy electromigration constraints for high-quality physical implementation.
- Lab Evaluation: Conduct lab evaluations of silicon, including designing evaluation hardware and testing methods for function and performance characterization.
- Production Test Support: Collaborate with production test engineering to support and debug production test issues.
- Application Engineering Support: Assist application engineers in evaluating devices to meet final customer needs.
- Digital Design Collaboration: Work closely with digital designers to share system-level requirements, agree on desired behaviour, and verify delivered digital solutions.
- Design Reviews: Lead product design reviews and maintain online documentation to ensure effective communication among team members, track key decisions, and ensure the quality of final results.
- Project Status Communication: Clearly communicate project status to senior management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BSEE + 15 years of relevant work experience (or MSEE + 13 year).
- Be able to demonstrate leadership or key roles in multiple integrated designs that have been introduced to the market.
- Ability to travel globally to collaborate with other Analog Devices sites (up to 10% of the time).
- Proven design experience in high voltage applications.
- Good communication and hands-on mentorship skills.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Design developments on High Voltage protection IC devices
- Proficiency with Cadence analog design environment, including schematic entry, analog and mixed-signal simulation
- Proficiency with other EDA tools targeted to mixed signal or digital design flows
- Automotive-Specific Design Experience with a focus on Quality, Reliability, and Safety (ASIL-D)
- Behavioural modelling of analog circuits and analog mixed signal (AMS) verification techniques
- Knowledge of software tools useful for top-down design approach like Simplis, Simulink, Mathcad, Matlab
