How will you make an impact in this role? </div> <div> Enterprise Data Management &amp; Products (EDMP), a key part of our Technology organization, focuses on delivering data products that fuel business growth and unlock value, while also shaping robust data management strategies and governance solutions.  Our aim is to propel growth, unlock potential, enhance efficiency, manage risk, and foster talent.  By prioritizing enterprise growth across all sectors, we create solutions that enhance satisfaction and value, streamline operations for scalability, and maintain trust and security.  </div> <div> </div> <div> The Enterprise Data Office (EDO) is part of the Technology organization and sets the enterprise strategy for and delivery of critical data-related initiatives required to accelerate the ongoing digital transformation of American Express products and services, enhance the overall customer experience, strengthen our data strategy and practices, and drive our continued growth.   </div> <div>   </div> <div> American Express continues to invest in enterprise data management, and as part of the journey, we are seeking a Senior Manager of Data Controls Design and Enablement.  This role will support the identification, design, development, implementation, and management of robust data controls across the enterprise.  Reporting to the Director, Data Controls Design and Enablement, this critical role will be instrumental in strengthening our data governance framework and mitigating key data risks within a complex and highly regulated financial services environment.  This role will collaborate closely with business units, technology teams, and risk management functions to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of our valuable data assets.  </div> <div> Key Responsibilities:   </div> <div> <ul> <li>Support the Director in the execution of the enterprise data control strategy by leading the identification and remediation of data control gaps across critical data domains</li> <li>Design and implement effective data controls (preventative and detective), leveraging enterprise risk and control frameworks such as Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA)</li> <li>Partner with business units, technology teams, Business Unit data offices, data stewards, and compliance stakeholders to understand data flows, identify risk points, and define control implementation strategies</li> <li>Contribute to the maintenance of a centralized data control inventory ensuring alignment with internal policies, regulatory expectations, and risk appetite</li> <li>Work closely with the product and tech teams to define requirements for automated control monitoring, dashboards, and reporting solutions</li> <li>Assist in the preparation and delivery of control performance metrics including KPIs and KRIs to key stakeholders</li> <li>Participate in internal and external audits or regulatory reviews, providing documentation and responses regarding the data control environment</li> <li>Support training and awareness initiatives by developing educational content related to data controls and best practices. </li> </ul> </div> <div> Minimum Qualifications:  </div> <div> <ul> <li>Bachelors degree in information technology, Data Management, Risk, Business Administration, or related field</li> <li>5+ years of experience in data governance, data risk, internal controls, or audit in the financial services or highly regulated industry</li> <li>Experience designing and implementing data controls</li> <li>2+ years of experience leading teams or mentoring junior staff</li> <li>Experience with enterprise risk and control frameworks such as RCSA or COSO. </li> </ul> </div> <div> Preferred Qualifications:  </div> <div> <ul> <li>Working knowledge of financial services regulations and data compliance requirements (e.g., BCBS 239, CCAR, GDPR)</li> <li>Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills</li> <li>Effective verbal and written communication with the ability to present data and control findings to non-technical stakeholders</li> <li>Familiarity with data governance tools and technologies (e.g., Collibra)</li> <li>Experience working with data reporting and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)</li> <li>Professional certifications such as CISA, CRISC, CDMP, or equivalent are a plus</li> <li>Ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet deadlines in a dynamic, matrixed environment. </li> </ul> </div> <div> Guardian </div> Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
