The Software Engineer Associate Manager focuses on managing projects from start to finish as well as managing the backlog of defects and enhancements. They own and manage their application(s) and projects in lower environments and in production including proactive monitoring of exceptions and failures. The Software Engineer Associate Manager selects, leads, counsels, motivates, sets expectations and evaluates small to medium teams. Additionally, they advise direct reports on administrative policies and procedures, risks, issues, problem resolution, and priorities. This person assists in defining, implementing and prioritizing IT policies, procedures, and best practices. The Software Engineer Associate Manager influences team and business results.Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Work with Business Analysts to collaborate on and understand business requirements for new enhancements / rollouts to the system.</li><li>Leads the team in sizing of full projects and individual backlog items and defects. Works with developers and business to revise sizing and scope as changes to scope occur or unexpected issues are found.</li><li>Leads the effort of shaping the architecture and design of the product</li><li>Collaborates on strategy across applications in partnership with product managers, other peers and key stakeholders</li><li>Leads and participates in daily product team standups with a focus on upcoming releases</li><li>Leads and participates in retrospectives; demonstrating and encouraging each participant to provide feedback with empathy</li><li>Work with our partners in dev-ops to understand existing continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment pipelines and practices and advocates for a strong culture of responsibility for work making from test all the way to production.</li><li>Leads and participates in knowledge sharing and contributes to the overall growth of the collective knowledge of the National General Household Developer community</li><li>Serves as the glue of the team and practices technical leadership; helping guide the team in choosing the solutions, solving technical problems, and resolving any technical conflicts within the team or amongst other teams</li><li>Leads and participates in inceptions and iteration planning meetings, infusing backlogs with technical input working in close partnership with the product manager</li></ul>Experience<ul><li>Experience mentoring and coaching (Preferred)</li><li> 5 or more years of experience in software development</li></ul>Supervisory Responsibilities• This job has supervisory duties.CompensationCompensation offered for this role is $95,700 - $152,690.00 annually and is based on experience and qualificationsJoining our team isn’t just a job — it’s an opportunity.
