Our mission is to build the most accurate and reliable medical agent in the world, while delivering an outstanding conversational experience. Things we’re working on:<ul><li>🧬 Build internal medical models — You’ll develop and evaluate foundation models and fine-tuned architectures for structured clinical reasoning. This includes working with curated datasets (e.g. clinical cases, EMRs, guidelines), building doctor-like reasoning agents, and iterating closely with medical experts.</li><li>📚Inject knowledge in clinical workflows — You’ll augment generation with structured clinical knowledge (e.g. drug databases, guidelines) using retrieval pipelines and hallucination-mitigation strategies.</li><li>🗣️ Push the frontier of voice-based agents for healthcare  — You’ll research and deploy streaming speech recognition and context-aware state switching — enabling Mo to handle real-time dialogue like a human clinician would.</li><li>📊 Develop eval frameworks for clinical AI —You’ll design and run evals, by hand and programmatically, to understand where our agents fail and improve them.</li><li>🧠 Build lifelong memory and personalization infrastructure — You’ll explore architectures for dynamic memory and personalized reasoning, enabling Mo to be a personal, relevant health companion</li></ul>If you’re excited by the idea of building the future of healthcare, this is the team for you - were at the start of the journey. If you’re curious, <a target="_blank" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2411.12808">here</a> is a paper we published recently.<h1>🎯 Is it you we’re looking for?</h1>We’re looking for Research Scientists with 3+ years of experience (or equivalent research track record) who get excited about building state-of-the-art AI systems and applying them to real-world, high-stakes problems in healthcare.<ul><li>You’ll work at the frontier of LLMs, multi-agent architectures, and human-in-the-loop learning — and see your work deployed in production, helping real people.</li><li>You’ll tackle open-ended, high-risk research problems that demand rigor, creativity, and speed.</li><li>You’ll work at the intersection of AI research and healthcare products, collaborating daily with doctors, engineers, and designers.</li><li>You’ll have significant influence on research directions, system architecture, and evaluation methodology.</li><li>You’ll mentor engineers and scientists, contribute to our research culture, and help build the team (including participating in hiring, shaping our interview loops, etc.). </li></ul>You would be a good fit at Alan if most of this sounds like you:<ul><li>Strong background in machine learning, deep learning, and/or large-scale model training</li><li>Experience with LLMs, RLHF, multi-agent systems, retrieval-augmented generation, or speech processing is a big plus</li><li>Product-minded: you want your research to be used, not just written about</li><li>Self-directed and pragmatic </li><li>Humble and still willing to grow (no matter your seniority!)</li><li>Collaborative, enthusiastic about teamwork, learning, and teaching</li><li>Fluent in English (no need to speak French!)</li></ul>But above all, we are looking for high potential and curiosity: make sure to show us this when you apply!
