Through SaaS platforms or marketplaces we enabled millions of small businesses and individuals to have access to our offering. Onboarding is a critical component to enable any entity to use Adyen’s service. To operate our financial licenses we need to comply with various regulatory requirements and through onboarding we ensure that. It’s a complex process that we aim to make it simple and intuitive. We are looking for an engineering manager to lead one of our cross-functional teams in the Chicago Tech Hub. We face unique technical challenges at scale and solve them together, delivering innovative and ethical solutions that transform the way the world’s finances work. <h2>What you’ll do</h2> <ul> <li>Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product, engineers, data engineers, and other key stakeholders within Adyen.</li> <li>Product Strategy: Craft a long-term vision for your teams product together with your product counterpart, balancing trade-offs pragmatically and aligning it with the overarching company vision.</li> <li>Team Motivation and Coaching: Exhibit leadership and inspire your team members, acting as a catalyst by coaching in areas such as engineering best practices, scalable architecture design, and product roadmap planning, thus having a multiplier effect.</li> <li>Goal Setting: Establish clear individual and team objectives that harmonize with Adyens strategic data and engineering ambitions, working closely with the product manager to achieve alignment.</li> <li>Team Environment: Cultivate an inspirational and collaborative team environment characterized by open communication and a culture of constructive feedback, focusing on autonomy, ownership, collaboration, communication, and impact.</li> <li>Talent Acquisition: Lead the recruitment of new team members who embody the Adyen culture and possess the requisite skills to make meaningful contributions.</li> <li>Feature Development: Collaborate with different teams to design and implement new features, considering reliability, infrastructure, data, and development needs. Be hands-on yourself in the development of these features, while balancing that with your team’s needs. </li> </ul> <h2>Who you are</h2> <ul> <li>Extensive Experience: Bring 7+ years in the software development industry within a fast-paced tech environment, including at least 3 years of leadership experience.</li> <li>Technical Proficiency: Expertise in building scalable full stack web applications using Java on the backend and well established frontend frameworks such as React, Typescript or Vue.js. </li> <li>Innovative Mindset: Not afraid to challenge the status quo and possess an innate curiosity to question the why.</li> <li>Leadership Qualities: Dynamic self-starter adept at fostering alignment across multiple teams, with strong coaching and mentoring capabilities, and experienced in leading technical projects in a fast-paced environment.</li> <li>Strategic Thinking: Proven track record of collaborating with senior leadership to shape strategic direction, including product roadmaps.</li> <li>Communication and Team Player: Exceptional communicator who can clearly explain technical concepts to non-engineers, foster a culture of collaboration, and exhibit robust management skills and technical acumen.</li> <li>Hands-On Approach: Comfortable with hands-on work in our codebase and able to define, implement, and monitor performance KPIs to quickly identify opportunities for improvement in existing systems. </li> </ul> <h2>Minimum Qualifications:</h2> <ul> <li>3+ years experience in managing cross-functional engineering teams</li> <li>7+ years of experience in software development in a fast paced tech environment</li> </ul> The annual base salary range for this role is $180,000 - $243,000; to learn more about our compensation philosophy, please click <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/11U2tgFev7p271JMQWMApZjtpJ3pGHNES7EvscXnsH3k/edit?tab=t.0">here</a>.
