Based on eligibility.</p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><b>Pay Range</b></p>$24.85 - $37.30<p></p><p></p><p>Essential Functions<br /></p> <ul> <li>Performs routine and complex electroencephalogram (EEG) procedures, nerve conduction studies (NCV), evoked potential (EP) and others, depending on specialty area training.</li> <li>Demonstrates knowledge of the equipment operators manual and calibration procedures. Identifies and corrects basic equipment issues when they occur.</li> <li>Performs Neurodiagnostic procedures using appropriate test strategy, electrode montage parameters, and calibration.</li> <li>Obtains all relevant information from the patients medical record history and progress notes, and transfers this to the technologists report.</li> <li>Adopts methods and instrumentation to obtain optimal results, based on medical history, clinical observations, and diagnostic test findings.</li> <li>Adheres to the standards of practice for test recordings, as outlined by ABRET.</li> <li>Maintains complete and accurate record keeping, including history forms and archived records of clipped data.</li> <li>Assists with the technical operation of specialized Neurodiagnostic procedures including long term monitoring, evoked potentials, intraoperative neuromonitoring and others as appropriate in specialty area.</li> <li>Verbalizes and implements appropriate actions during the onset of a seizure, and other patient medical emergencies.</li> <li>Demonstrates proper infection control practices throughout all aspects of care.</li> <li>Ensures hazardous materials are properly used and stored.</li> <li>Provides preceptor supervision to new technologists and student interns.</li> <li>Participates in ordering and maintaining supplies for the department.<p></p> </li> </ul> <b>Physical Requirements</b><br /> Work occurs in various patient-care areas including exam rooms, patient rooms, intensive care units, and operating rooms. It requires periods of standing, sitting, walking, lifting, bending, and moving heavy equipment to remote areas of the facility. Technologists must be able to work around other medical equipment and lift a minimum of 10 pounds shoulder high. Technologist must speak English in simple, understandable terms and have an intact sense of sight and hearing. Departments may require metro-wide after-hours call rotation.<p><br /><br /><b>Education, Experience and Certifications</b><br /></p>High School Diploma or GED required; graduate from an accredited Neurodiagnostic program with 3 years of experience preferred. BLS required. EEG registry or eligibility for EEG registry preferred. Board eligibility for ABRET certification in EEG is required within 2 years of hire, and completion of ongoing departmental requirements for EEG board registry preparation is required within 3 years of hire. Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills. Strong oral and written communication skills with experience in dealing with sensitive issues/situations, and conflict resolution. Ability to meet deadlines.
