THE OPPORTUNITY: This role is for a Senior Software Engineer I position (SSEI) on the Payments team within ActBlue. The Payments’ team mission is to “enable our engineering teams to offer simple, secure, and performant contribution methods and billing services to our donors”. This role will work closely with other Platform engineering teams, as well as Product engineering teams, to design, develop, optimize and maintain our payments-related software systems. The SSEI will leverage both frontend and backend development expertise to build scalable solutions, working with technologies including: React and TypeScript on the frontend as well as Ruby on Rails, Postgres, Sidekiq, etc.. on the backend. WHAT YOU WILL DO: <ul> <li>Work with your team to architect, refactor, and improve our core systems in order to facilitate the delivery of secure, scalable, and reliable features.</li> <li>Guide the design and execution of technical solutions that prioritize the highest impact opportunities while balancing effort, scope, and other trade-offs.</li> <li>Collaboratively design and champion best practices and design patterns to improve the maintainability of the platform.</li> <li>Demonstrate technical leadership through writing documentation, establishing effective monitoring, and fostering clear and audience-oriented communication.</li> <li>Receive support from your manager to grow as an individual and increase your impact on the success of your team and the progressive movement.</li> <li>May support supplementary projects as assigned, ensuring timely and efficient completion in line with organizational objectives and standards.</li> </ul> WHAT YOU BRING: <ul> <li>3-5+ years of relevant professional experience.</li> <li>Experience executing on large projects involving multiple engineers, complex requirements, and high ambiguity.</li> <li>Experience in development languages as well as significant experience developing and maintaining server-side web applications.</li> <li>A track record of effective collaboration with other engineers to develop abstractions and patterns that make it easy to build reliable software.</li> <li>Eagerness to explore and refactor legacy code.</li> <li>A team player mentality. Work Environment:  Employees can expect to work with distributed teams across all U.S. time zones. Our roles require extended technology usage, and proficiency with virtual communication tools such as Zoom and Slack. Regular attendance in virtual meetings is inherent to every position. Salary Range Details: Salary Range: $157,791 - $170,499 - $183,207 ActBlue is committed to consistent compensation practices across our organization.
