We have offices located in the Mission District in San Francisco, the SoHo neighborhood of New York, and East Liberty in Pittsburgh. <h2>The Role</h2>As Senior Corporate Counsel, you will serve as a trusted advisor to product, engineering, and security teams, embedding legal and compliance frameworks into our product lifecycle. You will deliver practical, business-oriented guidance that supports innovation while ensuring compliance with healthcare, privacy, and other regulatory requirements. This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of AI in healthcare.<h2>What You’ll Do</h2><ul><li>Serve as product counsel, partnering across the engineering, product, and security teams to support product design, development, and deployment.</li><li>Provide actionable legal guidance on regulatory, privacy, and compliance matters, including HIPAA, CCPA/CPRA, and the evolving AI/ML landscape.</li><li>Advise on healthcare regulatory compliance, including FDA, FTC, fraud and abuse (FCA, AKS), and related state laws.</li><li>Partner with other cross-functional teams including policy, partner experience, marketing, IT, finance, corporate development, and commercial to ensure alignment and mitigate risk.</li><li>Support privacy impact assessments, compliance risk assessments, and data governance efforts and frameworks.</li><li>Coordinate with external counsel to resolve specialist issues and ensure fast delivery of actionable legal guidance and risk analysis.</li><li>Monitor emerging regulations around AI, data use, and healthcare technology and advise internal stakeholders on their implications.</li></ul><h2>What You’ll Bring</h2><ul><li>Passion for Abridge’s mission and the energy and drive to support a fast-moving product and operational teams</li><li>8+ years of legal experience, including 4+ years in product counseling. Prior in-house, government, or law firm experience focused on healthcare is a requirement.</li><li>Strong understanding of and experience with federal and state healthcare laws, including HIPAA and data privacy regulations</li><li>Experience with FDA, FTC, FCA and fraud, waste, and abuse laws.</li><li>Proven ability to communicate and translate complex regulatory and legal concepts into clear, practical guidance for non-legal counterparts and colleagues.</li><li>Comfort and confidence with juggling a high volume of projects, tight timelines, and competing priorities.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise business judgement; interest in joining a small team that prioritizes autonomy and trust.</li><li>Proven ability to work cross-functionally, particularly with technical teams, designers, and commercial teams, building relationships and earning their confidence.</li><li>Creativity in solving and navigating novel legal matters; experience in crafting new processes and language to meet the needs of a rapidly-moving enterprise in a novel industry.</li></ul><h2>Bonus Points If…</h2><ul><li>Expertise in intellectual property, AI, interoperability, or technology law</li><li>Familiarity with recent trends in artificial intelligence, particularly with large language models and responsible AI principles</li><li>Prior in-house experience (bonus points if at a growth-stage or healthcare technology company)</li></ul><h2>This role is a remote position, but preference in either San Francisco or New York City.</h2><h2>Why Work at Abridge?</h2>At Abridge, we’re transforming healthcare delivery experiences with generative AI, enabling clinicians and patients to connect in deeper, more meaningful ways.
