We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Capacity Manager to join our 8x8 team. This role will play a critical role in our organization, ensuring efficient capacity planning and resource management across multiple teams and initiatives, driving the successful delivery of strategic outcomes. The Capacity Manager will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineering leaders, Program Management, and cross-functional teams to guarantee that projects are adequately resourced and on track. This key role will focus on high-level assessments for new initiatives, capacity planning and allocation, assessment and optimization, reporting and maintaining the system of record, commitment management, and roadmap and timeline maintenance to maximize throughput and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • High-Level Assessment for new initiatives: Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to build and develop high-level plans and t-shirt estimates for potential new initiatives, collecting estimates, feedback, risk assessments, and dependency analysis and capture the potential impact on previous commitments

  • Capacity Planning and Allocation: Work with relevant leads to ensure that teams capacity is appropriately planned, taking into account priority of each initiative but also optimal sequencing for each team that maximizes throughput. Manage the ongoing planning process by responding to new priorities as they arise and adjusting the teams’ plans to ensure delivery of evolving outcomes.

  • Capacity Assessment and Optimization: Assess teams capacity, to ensure workloads are balanced and achievable, addressing potential overutilization or underutilization of resources. Identify improvement opportunities and work with team leads and TPMs to agree on changes to project plans that will result in a more efficient and streamlined usage of resources. 

  • Reporting and maintaining system of record: Work with team leads to ensure up to date allocation data is stored in our system of record. Provide visibility into resource usage and capacity through dashboards and reports. Provide ongoing reporting on area performance, delivering insights on resource utilization, team commitment reliability metrics, and overall efficiency

  • Commitment Management: Proactively manage and monitor team commitments within areas of ownership. Assess projects progress to identify potential delays, risks, and areas of concern.

  • Roadmap & Timeline Maintenance: Ensure accuracy and data hygiene in the ongoing management of published timelines and area roadmaps, keeping them up-to-date and aligned with actual progress.


Qualifications

  • Highly analytical, well-organized, and capable of managing multiple work streams simultaneously.

  • Proficient in working with data, generating insights, and creating impactful reports.

    Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

  • Technical Program/Project Manager experience

  • Possesses a technical background and the ability to grasp high-level technical aspects related to the design and implementation of software products.

  • Skilled at understanding requirements and effectively engaging with both technical and business-focused stakeholders

  • Experience with using Jira

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
