This position requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of transportation technology, logistics operations and a proven track record of managing complex projects.The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating current systems in place (e.g. TMS, visibility platforms: logistics led TRAXX, FourKites, InforNexus), and maintaining strong relationships with technology providers. This role will also involve program management, process reengineering, and the development of training content to support 3M operations.This position will be a key member of the Global Logistics leadership team leading the Systems strategy, insights and initiatives governance throughout the organization.Core Responsibilities:<ul><li>Evaluate and Identify Gaps</li><li>Assess existing deployments (Four Kites, Infor Nexus, KN EOC under us) across transportation systems to identify gaps and areas for improvement.</li><li>Lead Transportation Technology Strategy &amp; Management:</li><li>Lead the implementation, optimization, and performance of transportation TMS, visibility platforms (Four Kites, Infor Nexus, KN EOC), ML/AI ensuring alignment with business objectives and operational needs.</li><li>Lead systems enabled value creation</li><li>Lead the operationalization and governance of strategic initiatives and priorities and accelerate decision making and resolving barriers to program success</li><li>Enhance Supply Chain Transparency:</li><li>Drive improvements in real-time visibility across the transportation network by leveraging advanced tracking and analytics solutions (e.g., dwell report transportation on time for E2E shipment).</li><li>Partner with DAA organization, logistics operations to build a clear Data Analytics roadmap and deliver one source of the truth.</li><li>Content creation for core reviews</li><li>Effectively create core slides in support of the 3M Logistics and Global Logistics strategy, including Improvement Reviews, BOD and other requested content.</li><li>Create storylines for clarity and alignment across the organization.</li></ul>Measure System Performance:<ul><li>Data quality, and adoption rates to ensure optimal functionality and user satisfaction. Establish and maintain KPIs and reporting mechanisms to measure platform effectiveness, track key metrics, and provide actionable insights to enhance transportation efficiency</li><li>Data Quality from our Freight Forwards</li><li>Ensure 3M TMS implementation and standard utilization across 3M sites</li><li>Identify change impact for new systems/technologies introduction and partner with operations and OCM for successful roll out and user adoption</li><li>Maintain Relationships:</li><li>Maintain strong relationships with Transportation Technology providers and lead quarterly business reviews to ensure alignment and continuous improvement. Stay informed on emerging trends in visibility technologies and lead initiatives to adopt solutions that improve supply chain accuracy and efficiency.</li><li>Program Management and Industry Insights</li><li>Program-manage process mapping and reengineering initiatives for logistics systems to ensure full leverage of Transportation Technology solutions.</li><li>Seek and promote industry’s best practices</li><li>Engaging externally with peer companies and thought leadership across the industry to build partnerships and replicate and share best practices</li><li>Sharing analytics and market insights with operations leadership and make recommendations for further enhancements to current operations strategies, initiatives, priorities and operational processes</li><li>Develop Training Content:</li><li>Develop and improve training content for logistics systems to facilitate new employee onboarding and ensure that product improvements are understood and leveraged in 3M operations.</li><li>Business Requirement Documentation:</li><li>Develop and maintain Business Requirement Documentation (BRD) for existing and new systems and technologies to ensure clarity and alignment with business needs.</li><li>Effectively prepare different Stakeholders and Partners for leadership reviews”</li><li>Liaise with IT to ensure proper awareness, resourcing, and prioritization of Transportation needs in the 3M global IT roadmap.</li><li>Partner with IT and DAA leadership and other stakeholders to identify strategic Transportation initiatives, managing interdependencies across strategic initiatives and subsequent program priorities</li></ul>Your Skills and ExpertiseTo set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)</li><li>Ten (10) years of supply chain and/or merchandise flow in a private, public, government or military environment</li></ul>Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:<ul><li>Minimum 7-10 years of experience in logistics technology or logistics operations space</li><li>Minimum 5-7 years of experience in logistics technology selection, logistics visibility, implementation and/or deployment</li><li>Minimum 1-3 years of process management and program management</li><li>BA or higher required in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Information Systems, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.</li><li>Familiarity with Logistics Technology ecosystem, including WMS/WES, TMS, Visibility platforms, sourcing platforms and freight payment required</li><li>Skills:</li><li>Strong understanding of transportation visibility technologies and their practical application in enhancing supply chain performance.</li><li>Exceptional analytical abilities, with experience developing and tracking performance metrics.</li><li>Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.</li><li>Leadership:</li><li>Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives, manage complex projects, and guide teams through technology implementations.</li></ul>Work location:<ul><li>One-site (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to Maplewood, MN at least 5 days per week)</li></ul>Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/internationalRelocation Assistance: May be authorizedMust be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).Supporting Your Well-being3M offers many programs to help you live your best life – both physically and financially.
