What you will be doing <ul> <li>Design, build, test, and deploy scalable and efficient backend systems that power AI- and LLM-driven customer experiences and internal tools.</li> <li>Handle large-scale data processing workflows—including data management, normalization, transformation, and vectorization.</li> <li>Build and optimize infrastructure for deploying and monitoring cloud services, ensuring high uptime, low latency, and robust system performance.</li> <li>Collaborate cross-functionally with computational biologists, software engineers, scientists, product managers, and designers to shape AI features that directly address customer pain points in the research journey.</li> <li>Explore and apply modern NLP techniques, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), transformers, and fine-tuning/customization of foundation models.</li> </ul> Minimum Requirements <ul> <li>Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, math, or scientific discipline and 6 years of software development OR 8 years of professional experience building software.</li> <li>Professional experience with AI, natural language processing (NLP), RAG, Embeddings, Vector stores, and GPT models.</li> <li>Four years experience with backend systems (REST APIs, backend services, modern relational database systems).</li> <li>Experience with a cloud environment and services (e.g. AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Grafana).</li> </ul> Preferred Skills and Experience <ul> <li>Proficiency with Go and React, or strong experience with comparable languages and frameworks.</li> <li>Experience with large-scale data processing, including wrangling, normalization, and transformation.</li> <li>Proficient working across the stack—from backend services and data infrastructure to application logic and APIs.</li> <li>A background in biology or bioinformatics is not required, but an interest in scientific research and a desire to support the scientific community are highly valued.</li> </ul><div>Below is the U.S. base pay range for this full-time position.
